Very frustrated with the experience I had at Dover Animal Hospital…read more I adopted a dog that was already a client at this vet clinic. The dog was about 6-7months old when we adopted her and has a cherry eye. The previous owners were very diligent in ensuring that the cherry eye was carried for appropriately, and that this girl had the best care possible! Keep in mind all of this puppy's vaccinations and assessment had been completed at this vet clinic. I called when I adopted this girl to inform them that she had a new owner, to make sure that they were contacting the correct people regarding follow-up and new appointments. When I called, I was advised that they were "unsure if they could keep me on as a client." I explained that the client was not changing, just the owner, and due to her circumstance, I would like to keep her care as consistent as possible as they already knew her case. I was then told "well I will have to check with the owner of the clinic and let you know if we can keep her on as a client." I then agreed (because what else am I going to do) and was advised that I would get a call within a week to let me know the verdict. Two weeks go by, and I still have not got a response from the clinic regarding the situation at hand. I call to follow up and am told that "the owner has decided that we cannot keep you on." I clarified that this dog has been a client of theirs now for almost a year, and that the client herself was not changing. It was reiterated again to me that they "could not keep this client, as a client." I still have not been given any reason or rational as to why they could not keep her as a client after she has, had all previous encounters with this clinic. To say that I am frustrated and defeated for my girl is an understatement. She deserves compassionate, considerate and consistent care. All of which was overlooked due to no fault of her own. Thankfully I have moved her to a clinic which she and I both feel supported and cared for. This was my first encounter with Dover Animal Hospital, and I am more than happy to say that it was also my last.

Absolutely atrocious service was given to my mother by this clinic…read more She has been taking our family pets here for 20 years, and when she made an appointment to euthanize our 14 year old family dog, she was given a date and time and agreed to it, only for you to call the next day and tell her you've moved the date and time to an earlier day "for her", like you were doing her a favour or something. She tried to tell you that her children wouldn't be able to make it that day, and she would have to drive there and back as a sobbing mess by herself, but you did not care, and even rudely hung up the phone on her, and wouldn't pick up when she tried calling back. Is this what you call empathy? You know that euthanizing a family pet, especially one as old as this is extremely upsetting. It would have been so easy for you to just be decent on the phone and resolve the issue like an adult. How dare you treat anyone like that and have the audacity to act like a child. You should be ashamed of yourself. These things should be handled with compassion and care, both of which you apparently lack. We will never be taking another animal here. Which is a shame, because you have always been decent to us in the past. Do better for your other clients. Nobody should have to deal with this situation, and it is entirely your fault. Unbelievable.
