Animals are very well taken care of - thanks to the volunteers - and are all spayed/neutered and fully vetted. The age of adoptable cats range from newborn (which are placed in foster homes) to mid-teens. Animal Aide is open every day, but I would advise to call ahead before dropping in, because sometimes stuff comes up. Today I brought Lucy in for her 4 year check-up. I wish I had the techs name but he was so friendly and gave Lucy so much love and attention which she loves. I can't say enough about Dr. Salvati she is amazing she answers every question provides amazing recommendations and really is so knowledgeable and caring. It was Giulia Salvati that saw my furkid that day, not much about her cough but there was medication to help ease issues with her trachea, namely Isopro/Ephed/Theoph/K-loide Elixir. 1.5 mL by mouth every 8 hrs I was told it was costly per month so I told Giulia I would like to try it for a month and if it helped my furkid I would consider continuing with this medication. I understood that the cost for this medication was $133 per month, I only got enough for 17 days. When I called Elgin Vet I was told that it was only for 17 days. That was not my understanding of the conversation with Giulia. I would not have bought the medication if I had known it was only for 17 days, ($266/ month??) then to top it off I was given 2 syringes that were One Use Only.

I've taken…read moremy dog Rex to Dr.Chin since I first got him as a puppy, and every time they go out of their way to make sure they take care of his needs, but also mine. Dr. Chin takes the time to go over all the options with you so you can make an informed decision and doesn't make you feel rushed or pressured like other vets can. I know they genuinely love animals and you can see it in everything they do. There is absolutely NO ONE I would trust with Rex besides his team to care for him. Rex LOVES going there because of all the snuggles and attention he gets. They knew how upset I was when he had to get neutered (I called them crying the day before) and they took the time to make sure I felt supported and okay too. Rex has a stuffed dinosaur he has had since he came home as a puppy he loves, and they made sure that was with him the entire time after surgery and had it right beside him in the bed afterwards. I was very nervous he'd be stressed as he's never been in a crate, but they made him totally comfortable with blankets, a heat pad, and his best friend (the dinosaur) beside him. The day of the surgery, they actually sent me a video message of Rex with a voice over saying "Hi Mom. I love you. I did great in surgery and they're taking great care of me. I miss you and can't wait to see you soon." The fact they cared enough not only to take good care of him, but also me just shows why this is a one of a kind place.

Worst experience I've ever had with a vet. Took our Great Dane in to get neutered. Had a pre-op…read moreappointment that allowed them to get his weight, and blood work. They then drew up a quote for $440 for the surgery and pain medication. This quote was based on the information they gathered. We returned 2 days later for the surgery. Our dog ate his last meal the night before at 6pm, and was without water from 10pm. He had nothing else in his system. Apparently, just after we left the office from dropping him off, he threw up. He proceeded to throw up 4-5 times at the office, pre and post surgery. The vet did not think it important to call me and inform me of this. They called me 2 hours early to pick him up, as he was whining. When I paid the bill, it was now $520- as they said with bigger dogs, they need to administer more pain medication- what was the pre-op appointment for then? That I paid $100 for? After I paid the $520, I waited for my dog to come out. Before bringing him out to me, the vet tech came back and let me know that he had just thrown up again, that they gave him more medication, and that I would have to purchase special food for him- $90 additional. I didn't question it, I just paid and wanted to get my dog home. When we got home, he threw up getting out of my vehicle, and again in the house. This is when I got concerned. The food that was thrown up in his bile was not remotely similar to food that we feed him. I took his food, put it down next to the vomit and snapped a picture. I called the vet to discuss my concern. Instead of taking responsibility for the concerns, the clinic immediately blamed me. They said that my dog could have gotten into something at home. We have no other dogs in the neighborhood, and have our dog on a very specific diet. The vet claimed with 100% certainty that no one at the clinic would have fed him. There are no monitors or surveillance to confirm this. The vet was also not present for the entire time my dog was there. I am disgusted that they wouldn't take responsibility for the care of my dog while I left him there. I would NEVER trust this clinic. If something goes wrong, they will blame you. This is a family member that you're dealing with- one that can't speak for themselves. Don't take your animals here!!!!

Stoneybrook Animal Hospital abused my kitten!…read more My kitten Cheeto was neutered on Dec.12, 2017 and this is this terrifying story. Cheeto is an energetic kitten who loves to play and only cares about getting food. He is the perfect addition to our petless home in July. He gets along well with young children and purrs loudly when you pet him. I had my reservations about having my sweet young kitten neutered. He had not started spraying, he does not get a choice in his fertility and he isn't too aggressive. A cat is not allowed to eat or drink 12 hours before undergoing surgery. We diligently kept food and water away from him to prepare. His appointment was for 8am and we were not able to pick him up until 4pm. When I got home, I was horrified to discover that he had not had anything to eat or drink that entire time! I couldn't imagine the amount of distress he was going through trying anything to just get a drink of water! If you're running a business, it may be cost saving not to feed your furry patients but not even water is downright cruel. It was no wonder that when he got home, I found his entire face to be swollen, BLEEDING and cut in two places. The hospital's only explanation for our family was that he did not like the cage. My poor sweet kitten was trying desperately to escape the cruelty of these careless veterinarians and he was so desperate he was willing to hurt himself. He was alone, scared and had no one check on him throughout the day to make sure he was ok. Cats can't talk. He can not get therapy if he has PTSD from this traumatic experience. I am scared that he will be skittish and not himself because of this hospital's carelessness. When we called the hospital, they assured us that they were checking on Cheeto every half an hour and blamed him for being aggressive. At no point did anyone even apologize. How can any employee watch a kitten struggle and hurt himself and not try to help? It doesn't matter how many times you check up on him, if you don't do anything about it! Please share this message with your friends so their pets will not go through the same thing! When seeing Dr. Jason, you know that first and foremost he cares not only about your fur baby but how your doing too, especially in the times when you have an elderly or sick one that is leaving you.
