Dropped by for quick breakfast just before going to the airport. Service was very quick and…read morecourteous. Coffee was great , food was okay . I got the cream mushrooms on sourdough toast , which tasted good initially but then started feeling that there was too much black pepper and kind of bland. My husband got the piri piri chicken burger , which had avocado also. The avocado didn't really gel well with the piri piri spices . Overall it was average . Ambiance was great for dine in . Some street parking available right outside the restaurant. The place was almost empty when we came here .

Some of the chairs are covered in coffee sacks and there are awesome lights made from wicker baskets which hang along the front of the cafe. I suspect they get a lot of the airport staff come down here to chill out for a bit on their breaks or after a long shift that probably started at 4am. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick. The coffee was okay. Jamaica Blue source their beans from 5 regions then blend and roast their own roastery, The Bean Alliance. There are 7 varieties, some organic and fair trade which are also available to purchase. I have no idea what my parents and sister had when we came, but my sister who is a barista said that the coffee was not great. I would say overall Jamaica Blue is average. There wasn't anything else in the area unless you want to dine at a fast food chain so this was it. It definitely has franchise written all over it and I guess that is where the problem is. I've never been to a good one, they are like the Subways of the cafe genre.

The staff here are as slow as snails. Don't visit Mac's if you are in any type of rush. I asked if…read moretheir homemade tartare was made from fresh raw egg, after looking at the bottle it comes in the staff concluded nothing here is homemade. We ordered a big breakfast with extra bacon instead of toast and the salt n pepper calamari with tartare alternative, tomato sauce. The food arrived very quickly, the kitchen staff maki up for the bar staff. Breakfast was hot and tasty, we discovered they had charged us without saying for the bread bacon swap. Eggs bacon and sausages were great, hash brown was a let down. Calamari was grease free but slightly under. I probably would return here unless I was just thirsty.

They had a friendly manner and the order came out shortly after. I ordered one of my favourite,( amongst a few other hot beverages) ,cappuccino and a Farmers breakfast. This is bacon , venison sausages , potato cake , toast , tomato and eggs done how you like. I chose poached. It was one of the best poached eggs I have had and the whole meal was pretty good. I have eaten the same here before and it was good then so is good to see it has kept the same standard, at least when it comes to this meal. The price is a tiny bit high but I would expect that of a place in the airport. Will have to try one day come here to see how it is at a later time of day. See if the service and food is as good then. All in all I think a good place to grab a bite before going on a flight , to watch the world go by ( literally ) , or wait for someone to come off a flight. This time I had to settle for the latter case.....but not too long and I will be experiencing the first..

It is like having lunch at your cool aunt's place. Homestyle fabulous! Compared to the other options nearby, this sunny little glass front cafe is a little piece of heaven. The ladies who own it are super friendly, and say hello by name whenever I stop by. They do fabulous catering, and their morning tea is to die for (warm just baked cheese scones.... savory tarts with cumin and kumera... excuse me, I'm drooling...) At lunch time they always have an assortment of interesting and healthy salads -- tons of vegetarian options, and you can mix and match as many as you want in a container. One of my favorite options of late is the spicy eggplant. It's half an eggplant that's been roasted, scooped out, mixed up with spices and whatnot, and put back in the skin. I LOVE eggplant, and this is as good as it gets!!! I always find it hard to resist their beautiful cakes. I tend to buy a slice with the idea of bringing it home to share with my husband for dinner, but sometime around my afternoon tea I end up starting to sample it. I've had the carrot cake, which was delicious, and another lemon cake thingy which was also to die for. Check out their Facebook page where they advertise their salads and other goodies for the day! Worth a trip out if you're trekking around Mangere domain, or on your way back from an airport pickup!
