Authentic little restaurant with friendly staff. We are from the states and got into Wellington…read morelate. We struggled to find a restaurant still serving after 9pm near our airbnb. One of the places we he'd tried suggested this place. We were a little hesitant as ethnic cuisines can be very different in different places (at least in America this is often true). I have a wonderful little Thai/Malaysian restaurant near my home and that I frequently order Tom Yum soup from. I ordered the seafood Tom Yum here and didn't think until after that i might be disappointed because it might be different from home. It was delicious. It was spicy enough to make you pause (in a good way) and still hit all the notes of a rich, flavorful broth. The soup was everything I expect from Tom Yum soup. My friends ordered the vegetable Tom Yum Soup and a Pad vegetable and the deep friend vegetable with plum sauce appetizer. Overall everything was delicious, and we were very satisfied with this little place. I wish we were staying in the area longer so that we could visit again.

The place is a bit small and out of the way. It was realy rocking tonight around 7:45, but we were…read moreable to get immediate seating. The owner worked the room and the counter, with a couple female cooks/servers as well. We had Pad Thai, (because it is my wife's go to dish), Beef with chilli, onion, ginger and veggies, and chicken in chilli sauce with cashews (first item in the main course section and my son looked no farther). His chicken was the best dish, although the Pad Thai was a close second place tie with the beef. My son and I asked for medium heat, and each could have tolerated/enjoyed quite a bit more heat. After sharing around, none of us had room for dessert. The owner was quite friendly even though he was very busy, and explained that "everyone was in tonight because tomorrow I leave for a month holiday." I'd highly recommend The Original Thai, and wished that I lived in Wellington so I could go back.
