It seems like most of their output is consumed in the local area, and with good reason - the beer is delicious!!! I mean, they've been brewing since 1283 so they must be doing it right. Anyway, on our trip to Germany this spring we made sure to schedule a stop In Donaueschingen to visit. Alas, they weren't open for tours nor was the shop open when we stopped, so the Mister was sad. To make up for it, I ordered him a bunch of gear for his recent birthday. The folks at the brewery were really accommodating and were willing to ship to the US (even though they normally don't deliver outside Europe) for a relatively small shipping up charge. It was a little bit of a pain as they don't take credit cards, so I had to wire the cash. And international shipping is sloooowww (not their fault). It was all worth it in the end though! Just be sure to place orders well ahead of time (think 3-4 weeks to be safe). In short - historic brewery + really nice people + delicious beer + making my husband's birthday present special = highly approved. If you're in the area and can catch a tour, you should definitely do that!

The idea with the small menu, written inside on the wall, is really nice and you can be sure that you always have fresh made food. During the summer time they have some seats available outside in front of the restaurant, and beeing surrounded by cars makes the name of the location more understandable :). The cars don't disturb you anyhow, they are simply there but not bothering you at all. When it's cold outside you better grab the phone and make a reservation, otherwise you might have bad luck with finding an available table. If you are lucky, then you an meet friendly bikers with their amazing bikes or you can see old cars which are driven by friends of the owners. I simply love this place and I can't do anything more then recommend this to everybody who likes a good burger, steak or only salad.

But since this is one of the little places where you can sit outside it is definitely worth a vist. If you want to sit inside, that also possible but it is better to give them a call before and reserve a table if you want to visit with more people. The place is kind of crowded during the later hours. Beside the good beer (it is the smallest private brewery in germany, btw.) you can have typical german food called "Brotzeit" and changing special dishes. Sure you can eat something there and the food is good, as I said before, but if you go here it's because of the beer. So, now go and visit the cozy place and allow oneself a cold good beer.

The owners where very nice and we were able to communicate although they didn't speak much English and I don't speak much (any) German. They have a big screen in the Terrazzo which was a bonus.....its World Cup Time!
