April took the most beautiful photos of our family! Our one-year-old is not an easy kid to photograph--he's extremely active, and usually wants to eat the camera or take it apart, but April managed to charm him and all of us with her wit, patience, and creativity.
On a day that threatened rain, we went to take pictures in the park. April used the gray afternoon light to create gorgeous lush scenes. She brought a classic Radio Flyer for our little guy to use as a walking toy, and her photos captured his delight. She put us all at ease with her sense of humor, her pleasure in the work, and her appreciation of our son's personality. She seemed to know exactly how to set up shots that would capture his particular kooky beauty.
April is a perfectionist, a talented artist who knows that tiny details make a great difference. She's also great fun to work with. Through a long photo shoot she kept producing new and fun ideas for shots, and she demonstrated a remarkable ability to draw smiles out of our little guy. But her photos aren't just about grinning babies and beatific-looking parents; they're about finding a family's essence, and translating it into images. Her work has a painterly quality--the shots are artfully framed and composed, and the colors are as rich as nineteenth-century canvasses. But she's got a distinctly twenty-first century sense of design and style, and the photos come out looking both timeless and fresh.
When it came time to select the images we wanted to print, April took great pains to make sure we chose the loveliest and most enduring ones. We went through hundreds and hundreds of exposures, and she was infinitely patient, showing us different permutations of light and color and zoom. The prints arrived soon afterward, looking as beautiful as we'd hoped, and the digital images we selected were lovely and carefully edited. Altogether our experience couldn't have been better.
