We checked out La Parilla by recommendation of our taxi driver. It is nestled in the Isla mall, and…read moreis right on the lagoon. It has a tiki bar vibe, with cute string lights and fun decor. It seems as though the entire staff loves working there! I suppose they are widely known for the servers balancing stacked drinks on their head, which is a sight to see! We went on a Wednesday night, and actually went back on Sunday. Wednesday was very chill and Sunday was lively - they invited patrons to a conga line and to do the Macarena, lol - corny, but fun! We had Miguel both nights, and he was fantastic.
Both nights we had the Pibil Chicken - which is served with bones in it, but I swear it was the most amazing and juicy chicken ever! We also tried their vegetarian tacos (mushrooms, onions, peppers and cheese) which was fantastic. Their homemade tortillas (both corn and flour) are superb. I would not recommend the fried cheese appetizer - it was not my favorite, probably just a personal preference.
A few tips: if you ask the information desk upon arrival to the mall, they will give you a free drink card. It works! Everyone at the table will get a free margarita. We did this both nights :-) also, it is located next to Taco Y Taquila. You pretty much have to walk through that restaurant to get to La Parilla. The price is extremely reasonable - we actually couldn't believe how low our bill was, both nights. They except pesos, American dollars and credit card.
