Situated on the east side of TJ, off Blvd. Cucapah in from it the Africa Strip Club and around the corner of the IFE, Tacos de Birria El Chavita are, IMHO, one of the better birria taco stands in all of TJ. It's run by a family where the dad is the Master Taco Maker, the wife handles the cash and their 3 kids run around waiting tables, cleaning dishes or heating up tortillas. They make a great team and a great taco. The only food option is beef birria. Trust me, it's all you'll want. You can have tacos, tostadas or a plate. If you order a plate it's all the tortillas you can eat with your order. I prefer the tacos on a fried, crisp tortilla. Then add some of the purple onion with sliced habanero peppers and it's a go. Chase it with a Coke and you'll leave very happy. If you feel adventurous ask for the special. It's a double tortilla taco with salsa in the middle that's fried up with the meat inside. Spicy as hell. This place is closed on Tuesday but opened the rest of the week usually from 8 AM till they run which is usually around 2 PM. 1 PM on Sunday's.
