no longer around... :(
It's exciting for a town of less than 1,500 people in rural Idaho to have a taco truck! So when Tacos el Michicano came on the scene this summer, they became popular very quickly. This is no "roach coach" -- this is fresh, authentic food (I guess, I mean Spanish-speaking people own and run it).
I'm a vegetarian so I usually go for a burrito without meat ($4 w/ or w/out meat) so that's rice, pinto beans, salsa, sour cream, and lettuce. They have spicy chicken, beef, and pork and they used to have chorizo. Very good, tastes homemade. Their salsa is HOT HOT HOT (both red and green), so go easy if you're a gringo.
Everything is reasonably priced, except perhaps the soda at $1/can. But you can easily feed a family of 4 for $20.
The truck is usually found on the corner of Hwy. 12 and Hill St. in the parking lot of Highland Realty. They were open something like 11a-8p every day except Monday during the summer. During the school year their schedule seems to have gone from "closed" to "sometimes open." That's my biggest complaint: it's hard to know when they will be there. But during the pow-wow they were at the Wa-a'Yas selling Indian Tacos cheaper than the Natives. read more
