EL CIELO MEXICAN RESTAURANT - SIMPSONVILLE, SC
Miami Boy…read moreApproved!
Well, folks, here we go again! Another family road trip, this time visiting my sibling in South Carolina, and naturally, we had to find somewhere to eat.
Now, let me explain something. I'm coming from Miami, and I lived in Homestead, Florida, where authentic Mexican restaurants are everywhere! So when it comes to Mexican food, I've been spoiled! My expectations are HIGH
Well, let me tell you something. EL CIELO DID NOT DISAPPOINT
First off, the food was OUTSTANDING Fresh, flavorful, authentic, and the portions? GOOD LORD! Apparently, nobody told the kitchen we're feeding regular human beings and not an entire construction crew.
I'm talking about plates so big you could practically order one meal for two people! But let's not get carried away. I'm not sharing my food! Besides, I already had plans for those leftovers later tonight.
And can we talk about the chips and salsa bar? AMAZING Fresh, crispy chips and some incredible salsa selections. But that mango pico de gallo? LORD HAVE MERCY I could've sat there all evening eating that stuff! Somebody needs to bottle it and sell it because I would've bought a case.
Between the tacos, enchiladas, burritos, rice, beans, and everything else coming out of that kitchen, our table looked like we were hosting a Mexican wedding reception!
The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, a beautiful bar, and a comfortable, welcoming feel.
And here's the kicker. Five people, all that food, drinks, and even dessert, for around $130 These days, that's practically a miracle
FINAL VERDICT:
Coming from South Florida, where we know a thing or two about authentic Mexican food, I can confidently say El Cielo holds its own.
Great food, ridiculous portions, excellent salsa, and prices that won't have you applying for a second mortgage.
If you're anywhere near Simpsonville, South Carolina, give this place a try.
And one last piece of advice COME HUNGRY AND BRING A TO-GO BOX! Because trust me, you're going home with tomorrow's lunch
