Tacos Al Vapor is apparently so good that two cars pulled off the main street to park and order some horchatas and tacos! At 8 p.m. on a Tuesday, there was only a short, fast-moving line at this taco truck right next to Winnetka Park. It's walking distance from my house, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Three tacos (two carne asada, one lengua) came out to $5.30, which is standard pricing in L.A. The food was out within five minutes. Their to-go orders come wrapped up in foil and a plastic bag. The meat left a little something to be desired. The asada wasn't as plentiful as the lengua, and it tasted salty more than anything. The limes and medium salsa could not help with that. On the other hand, the lengua was soft, cooked well, and complemented by the grilled onions and lime. I was also impressed by their inclusion of limes, radish, grilled onions, and grilled serrano peppers in separate packages, all for no extra cost. Their lime supplier, whoever they are, is amazing -- the ones I had were very fresh and plump. Convenience wins out over quality in this case, and it's a fine choice for anyone looking for a roadside Mexican food fix. Parking by the park and abundant housing is a well-played call. read more

I ordered tacos asada, pastor, cabeza and tripas with everything plus cheese. Everything was pretty good, but only mildly flavorful. The tripas stood out a little with only slightly earthy taste and slightly crispy. The amount of meat in each taco is a little conservative. They don't have carnitas. There served with grilled onions and Serrano peppers. The red and green sauce, red is fairly spicy, green is medium spicy. It will get the job done for late-night tacos. read more

I'm surprised they don't have many reviews, maybe it's still a hidden jem? It's always busy but maybe not enough yelpers in that crowd. This truck was normally parked on the opposite side of the street and didn't have any seating options. We used to sit on plastic containers. The owner made a wise choice and recently purchased actual heavy duty chairs. So good job guys seems like you're listening to your customers. They serve grilled onions and serranos, they have a spicy green or red sauce that compliment the meats. This truck always looks clean and the cooks wearing matching collar shirts adds a nice touch! It's a great taco truck on the west side of the valley. One more thing...they serve Aguas Frescas! The horchata was tasty. read more

Since moving to the area, this spot is a convenient one stop shop for tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and aguas frescas. There are multiple meats to choose from, including Asada, Pollo, Al Pastor, Lengua, Tripas, Cabeza, Buche, and Pescado (extra). The green and red (spicy) salsa add a nice kick to the dish and the extra fixings (grilled onion, raddish, and picked carrots/jalapeño) complement well. Been here a couple times and I always love it. Doesn't take too long too. I love the chiles and onions they give on the side it's so good. I live down the street from this truck and see it all the time but never stop by. Well tonight happened to be my lucky night. We finally decided to try it after getting a late night craving for tacos and oh my god they were soooo good. We pretty much demolished them within minutes. We ordered tacos al pastor and carne asada with everything on it. The tortillas were soft and covered in grease (in the best way) and the meat had such a great flavor. Their al pastor is my new favorite in the valley. So tender and sweet, the way it should be. They gave us radishes, limes, grilled onion, and grilled chiles on the side as well to perfectly complement our delicious tacos. This is definitely going to be the new spot, especially considering that it is so close to home. The only thing I'm left wondering is why I didn't try this sooner. read more

I hope this was just a bad night for them, because I was really looking forward to having good tacos near my home. I tried the their Carne asada, pastor, lengua, and tripas tacos. All the meats, except lengua were over done. The pastor and tripas were as hard as chicharon. The lengua was tender enough, but had no flavor. The amount of meat inside every taco was inconsistent and indicative of how hastily they were prepared. Needless to say their tacos were not good. read more

Carne asada quesadilla was soooooo yummyyyy I'm so glad this place is so close to me very great option for late night mexican food munchies! they also have aguas frescas the horchata is heavenly. the new look is great with the added lights and white chairs out in the front. also much better they moved out in front of the park area now. everything i've had from there is super delicious, carnitas burrito is bomb too. if you're around the area i recommend give this place a try! yaaaa!! read more
