We absolutely loved this restaurant, what a perfect setting, and such a great meal. My son and I ate there on a trip through the region and it was one of the best meals we had. 100% recommended.
1. The ambiance is perfect. Set on a terrasse of an old watch tower overlooking the old town, you can see all the old roofs and buildings below. The building itself is old and warm. Clearly the new owners have invested a lot of money. and time sprucing it up. Very clean Quality plates, silverware, glassware, etc. You reach the restaurant via a glass elevator that takes you up to the top.
2. The food was excellent. What the Austrians call "Hausmannskost" - home cooking - but with excellent flair and technique. It was refined comfort food, with a light touch. Excellent wine list.
3. The service was impeccable. Professional and friendly, never intrusive or lacking. A very well run establishment.
Steyr is a lovely town, comparable almost to Bamberg, but it has very few tourists. This is an excellent place to eat very well-prepared food while admiring the old city down below. read more
