This was the most spectacular night in Spain. I'm so glad we did this. My friends and I researched this place before traveling and I loved the combination of dinner and show. Best idea ever. The performance was splendid and electrifying. My mouth dropped when the first female danced. It was as if she was Emanating heat as she stomped on the floor and tapped her hand around. My heart was pumping furiously the entire time. Of course everyone was amazing and kept me mesmerized the entire night. I cried at one point because the singers were as good as the dancers. My body was all goosebumps and I only wished it was longer. My sister and friends were equally happy and grateful. The food was amazing as well and you get lots of food including dessert and some great sangria. The only thing I will change on the steak, I was not fond of the sauce. A chimichurri sauce with have been perfect for the meat. The staff was amazing, specially the Dominican waitresses that served us all night. She was on top of every detail and gave us tons of information. The owner of the place was nice enough to give us an amazing tour and history of the place. We were fascinated by entire experience. Several friends recommended we see a flamenco show while in Spain. We are so glad we did. We booked through Viator. We went to the 6:00pm show with the dinner option. I recommend dinner rather than the tapas option. Our table was great. We were in the balcony looking down at the stage. Our dinner included appetizers, soup or salad, entree and dessert. The appetizers were tasty. The olives were in a spicy oil. The spinach croquette was my favorite. We both had the gazpacho soup. It did not have a strong cucumber flavor as the gazpacho I have made and had in the past. It was a mild flavor. I had never had Hake before. The sauce really made it flavorful. It was accompanied by sliced potatoes and vegetables. My husband had the filet which had vegetables and mashed potatoes. The desserts were good. The show was what made the experience special. The authentic experience of a dance was great. Kids loved it too. The location was nice. The food was pretty good (not amazing). Main reason why I don't give it 5 is because we wanted to also walk around the area but when we got there there was a concert that had taken over the place and we were not only not allowed to walk around but we were pretty much kicked out. During a visit to Barcelona while on vacation, stopped in for the flamenco show at Tablao de Carmen. Initially, I was not that interested in a flamenco show. However, it was awesome! Having dinner and drinks, while watching the flamenco show, was such an experience. You are able to truly see and feel the dancers and their performances. You begin to follow the storyline of the dance and show, which makes it very interesting and intriguing. On the way to the show from the front gate, there were some twists and turns through numerous walkways. However, it was cool. When I booked this experience for my wife and I on our first visit to Barcelona, I wanted something to be the highlight of our Barcelona trip. Tablao de Carmen was definitely IT for us. From the moment we walked through the doors, we where welcomed by very nice staff, and we ended up meeting Mimo, the owner who BTW, she is a sweetheart. She told us the story behind the scenes of Tablao de Carmen, and how it came to be and there's a wonderful surprise to the story of Tablao de Carmen, which I will not spoil. You will have to go and speak with Mimo yourself. Trust me, it's worth it. The show it self, is jaw dropping if you have never experienced a flamenco show before. All the participants, the dancers wow. We were very happy to be there. The food was excellent. Warm and perfect, along with a nice jar of perfectly made Sangria. Our server was so sweet, she explained every step of the way and which dishes were coming out next. All in all, the experience was definitely a highlight in our stay in Barcelona. If you are vacationing in Barcelona, shame on you if you decide to skip a Flamenco show. But since you are on this page, that means you are interested, so please read on. I was beyond excited to come here. We had purchased tickets online for the 2nd showing for a Friday night. The package we bought was the Star Flamenco Evening which gets you a table next to the stage, crazy amount of food, unlimited Premium Reserve wine, and a welcome drink in the patio....which did not happen as the dancers were on the patio warming up before their set. All this for €150 per person. So before I go any further, I don't recommend purchasing this package, you're better off going down a level. Trust me, for €80, you'll still get a table close to the stage and you won't feel like you've eaten a bear. I know you're thinking, come on now....she doesn't look like she can eat that much. Believe me, I've been known to eat a whole house, but this was too much. The show was fantastic! I can't recommend the show enough! We had 3 gorgeous dancers (2 men and 1 woman). The evening started with one of the male dancers dancing to the beautiful Arabic influenced Spanish music, then the ever beautiful Noemi Ferrer took the stage, and last (certainly not least) the smooth hypnotic dancing of Ricardo Fernandez had me glue to my seat. The show itself lasted approximately 75 minutes and I was sad when it ended. For the price we paid, I guess I was expecting a WOW factor on every level. Certainly the Flamenco show was a definite 5 star, service was outstanding in that we never had to flag anyone for a vino refill, but unfortunately, the food was mediocre by Barcelona standard. I still have to give it a 5-star though because it was just an amazing experience that lasted a little over 2 hours. Besides, it's kinda hard to complain when you see these guys dancing so passionately and you are just sitting there being served vino after vino after vino.... We came here for a group dinner with the hopes of experiencing a fun cultural performance like flamenco dancing. Unfortunately for us, the evening of our dinner had heavy rain. We walked for ~20 minutes in the rain only to find out the Google Maps address was incorrect! It was only after numerous phone calls that they told us the restaurant was located inside the Poble Espanyol de Montjuic Museum. Upon entering the museum area, the staff didn't even bother to guide us in the correct direction of the restaurant and the restaurant staff wasn't helpful with providing clearer directions either. Nonetheless after 10 more minutes of wandering in the rain we finally found the restaurant, along with a few other lost guests. The dinner itself was average tasting compared to the other foods we've had in Barcelona. There were patatas bravas, some kind of mushroom cheese dumpling, chicken skewers, marinated olives, cheese and crackers plate, sugary sweet sangria, red wine, and a very wet creme brulee for dessert. We have a diabetic in our group and the wait staff didn't understand our questions if things had sugar in them. They also made a big fuss when we asked for certain modifications like having sauce removed from the chicken skewers so our diabetic friend could eat it, and bringing out Stevia for coffee. The dance performance itself was very energetic! However it got really loud due to the stomping on the wooden stage. If you're at the tables near the front of the room by the stage, it is almost deafening. We had a 2 year old with us and one of the parents brought him to the balcony upstairs to watch the performance to avoid the noise. If you're looking for a flamenco performance, I'd try and book something through a different company. I wasn't impressed by the customer service or the food here. read more

I had the great pleasure of visiting Tablao de Carmen twice in October 2024 -- at the very beginning of my Spanish vacation and the night before I had to return home. I went back a second time because the experience was so amazing! I'm a flamenco student in the States, and I was blown away by how the performers all seemed to be having an amazing time together, how sympatico they all were as a team, and how intimate and comfortable the setting is allowing us to freely participate with vocalizations and palmas (but only do palmas if you have good compas, otherwise you can mess up the performers). I've seen shows in Madrid and Seville, and while the dancers were professionals none of them seemed to have the passion of these dancers, singers, and guitarists. The first night the daughter of one of the performers joined them on stage and tore the roof off with her dancing (she couldn't have been older than 10 or 11). The performance is only half of the experience, though. Mimo and the restaurant staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the food is fantastic! I even had the opportunity to see the patio where Carmen Amaya herself danced for the king (it's used as a private party space). If you are looking for a truly incredible evening of flamenco, I cannot recommend Tablao de Carmen highly enough. I will make sure to visit every time I touch Barcelona. Gracias, Mimo! read more

We were told about this Flamenco show by a friend of ours from the US. When we asked the hotel front desk to make reservations, they assumed we were talking about a different Flamenco place. Upon searching their cupboards, they found a totally unused pad of booking passes to the Tablao de Carmen. We were required to leave a 10% deposit with the hotel and pay the rest upon arrival. There is apparently a Magic Fountain in the vicinity, but as it turns out they do not operate it Mon-Wed and we went on a Wednesday. We booked the late show which seats at 8:45 and the show starts at 9:15. From online reviews, we assumed the $49 tapas would be enough of a meal. After having had a very tiny tapas dinner the night before, we were starting to regret our dinner choice for the Flamenco show, but as it turned out there was more than enough food and sangria! The two of us could not finish it. And the food was mostly quite good. Maybe I just don't like/understand Flamenco dancing. It seemed repetitive and boring and they had so many people jammed onto such a small stage - it seemed like the dancers were constricted to spinning in place and stomping. I guess maybe that's the art, but it didn't entertain me much. I enjoyed my meal and it was very cool that you get free entry to Poble Espanyol which was actually much cooler than I expected. If you're going to the late show during the week, expect it to be a ghost town in the Poble Espanyol. So overall the food was good, the venue was ok, the free entry to the park was good and the entertainment was just meh. read more

Last minute Easter weekend city break, and last minute decision to watch a Flamenco show. The venue is good and intimate. We had front row sit right next to the stage so I can see every detail of how the feet moved. The dancers were good and so was the food. Was it mind blowing? Not completely. Could it have been better? Maybe, comparing to London West End level performance, I'd say I have been to better performances. (I think one of the dancers was performing injured as she was limping afterwards.) For a cultural experience, the price/ food/ value is well worth it. If you are visiting Barcelona and would like to catch a Flamenco show, I highly recommend this venue. Housed within the Poble Espanyol, an "architectural museum" built for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, it's worth the trip just to see the surroundings, which you can tour before or after the show. As far as the dancers go, I thought they were excellent. Some started composed and meticulously dressed and finished a ball of perspiration, as they should be. Reservations are easily made by calling ahead. I came across this place on a travel website and decided to check it out while in Barcelona. The woman on the phone was very helpful and notified me that I could visit Poble Espanyol for free in the afternoon before attending the show. I did not get a chance to visit Poble, which is a touristy area filled with shops, restaurants, bars, and stores that sell speciality/keepsake type items. I took a taxi, arriving around 9:15 for dinner, which began at 9:30 (you can get there as early as 8:45, and most patrons had arrived before I got there). I was presented with a menue with which to choose my second + third courses and dessert. Appetizers are standard for all dinner guests. The gazpacho shot was delicious, I did not eat the coconut milk appetizer shot. Dinner comes with a bottle of wine or a pitcher of sangria, I had the sangria which was decent. For my second course, I chose the lentil casserole, and I really enjoyed it's rich flavor. Next up was the roasted chicken with rice, which was kinda "meh", and I had a postre for dessert. Coffee was served at dessert time, and it was strong and delicious as I've come to find common in Barcelona. The service was friendly and most of the staff spoke English as well as Catalan. The flamenco dancing performances were pretty great. Several singers, a guitar player, and dancers make up the troupe. They are all talented in their own right and vibe well with each other to create a group who really knows how to put on a show. I am not much of a museum person, so I opted for this cultural experience, and I'm definitely glad that I checked it out. The cost for dinner + the show was 77 Euro; other options include dinner + show, and tapas + show; those are less expensive. If I had to do it again, I would've gone with the tapas instead of dinner, however, I was satisfied with the experience overall. read more

What a spectacular night! We are in town for 5 days and made Dinner and Show reservations just a few hours before show time.. arrived 10 minutes before show time and were treated to a special tour of the grounds and a historical lesson by Mimo the proprietor! We were given a glass of wine for a chat and taken to our stage side table for a show that I expected to be fantastic....but it surpassed our expectations by a factor of 10!!!! El Tablao de Carmen is located inside Poble Espanyol de Montjuïc (spanish architecture town museum). I came here to watch a flamenco show, ordered a tapas dinner and show combo. I was promptly seated and waited for the wine I ordered with the meal. I was expecting to be handed a glass. The waitress arrived and placed a big bottle of red wine on my table. Wow that was unexpected. I thought to myself, oh man I am gonna get drunk! Lol. Shortly after the tapas came. I had about 5 different kinds. The food was tasty but not amazing. The wine was excellent though. The show started and I was pretty close to the stage. I had an excellent view. The show itself was very entertaining. Might be a tourists spot but definitely worth the rather pricey cost of entry. It's a soulful, uninhibited display of bravado and also stamina, all while you're leisurely sipping on free flowing sangria (or wine or beer or soda) and nibbling on generous amounts of food. Four solo dancers cross over and around the small stage for about 15 minutes each, taking over the space with their own style... all some mix of choreographed and improvised, they bring up the beats and the melodies and the wails of the trusty and obviously familiar crew of classical guitars soloists and whoever else was up there, since it was practically a family of Flamenco-ists. Go with the show+tapas option at €49 rather than the more expensive dinner options. The nibbles are well timed, and you get all sorts of reasonably tasty dishes: a plate of assorted meats, some marinated mushrooms, cheese croquettes, potato salad, bread and tomato, something similar to fried calamari and to end it all a flan with whipped cream and an espresso. Nothing to blow you away but nothing to complain about either. Plus it's all timed quite nicely so that you eat enough before the show begins (they start seating arrive about 45 minutes before the show starts but arrive earlier to line up if you feel competitive). As the band enters and dancing begins, you can continue to snack on the spread as you sip wine. The waiters and waitresses slip in and out with plates on plates for the tables surrounding, but it's not too distracting. I do think that those with the meal option were interrupted much more frequently as they had (too much) food, spaced out in courses. Much more expensive, and I assume not all that delicious... plus I would rather be staring at the fancy footwork going on in front than worrying about successfully transferring fork to mouth. read more
