They have a ton of variety including smaller less expensive items to larger paintings that may cost more. Staff have always been extremely friendly and will greet you with a smile and answer any questions you have. It will always be the store that helped me find one of my favorite local artists Flyn who have since opened their own retail space. Truly the perfect spot to grab yourself or family that item that will remind you of your time in Maine. You will find at least one item you want to purchase if not more. Also you can proudly say that you helped support a local artist/maker. 100% worth your time visiting! As a local I make a point to revisit this place frequently.

On Friday, I went back, at 3:30pm, their "OPEN" sign is out so I again parked at the $2 lot, walked the block only to find they are "gone to lunch." Understandable during this off-season (9/24/2025 and 9/26/2025) but my parking expires at 4:25pm. Businesses come and go in Dock Square - some are new, others have been here since I first went to Maine as a child. The Whimsy Shop is on the latter end of that spectrum, and was always known for carrying more upscale gifts compared to a typical touristy souvenir shop. My brothers and I were looking for a gift to bring back to our parents from Maine, and thought this would be a good place to check out. The majority of their selection is home decor - there are a lot of porcelain products as well as a few housewares. They have pretty stuff, and even though it's a small store you can spend a good amount of time browsing. We ultimately decided to go with a hand-painted ceramic snowman to go with our parents' many other snowpeople they display during the holidays - it was intricately painted an truly a unique item. Service was friendly, they packed the item with care and even gave us information about the artist to take home. Overall, I had a great experience rediscovering the Whimsy Shop and would recommend it as a stop during your Kennebunkport explorations.

The Blue Lobster has mugs, hats, magnets, merch and much more! I almost spent my entire check in there! Their store is spacious too so it's quite easy to move around and shop freely. I spent a good amount of time browsing. I purchased 2 long sleeve tops and a few magnets. This place is conveniently located right in downtown Portland with affordable pricing. Highly recommend!

The lady at register was very friendly, helped us with quick checkout and nicely packed all our items. It's a must visit store when you are in Old Port.
