I was previously a t-mobile member, and switched to the TERRIBLE (Mint mobile) provider that uses their towers. I have two phones. The number that went from t-mobile to Mint, was a freelance number I use for side gigs (a 212 number). After months of subpar service with mint, I was immersed in other work and deactivated my 212 number temporarily. T-mobile holds onto your number for 4 months. Mint mobile, it turns out, only waits 60 days before deleting your account and all evidence that you ever did business there.
They had deleted my 212 number, a good one, which would sell for a pretty penny, which I found out when trying to switch services, but when I checked if it had been reassigned, as they said, I was told it was not in service. When I tried to get a new line, reluctantly, with mint, and every other carrier, using my same number, all services said my number had not been reassigned, but was still locked to a carrier... but mint said they did not have it locked and there was no record of it.
Long story short, the t-mobile associate, Tamsha, even knowing that I might not end up with T-mobile service, took the time to help me with my pursuit and give me valuable information on multiple days. The other associates provided me with a charger when my phone was dying on customer service with Mint, and also did their best to weigh in with advice that they said, likely would not help me, but still worked harder than a lot of other reps from other carriers.
In the end, I ended up getting my number back (something every one at every company, and even 212 number dealers I spoke with, had said was next to impossible), and Tamsha's valuable information (that it was definitely still locked to Mint and would likely go back into an open pool on the 120th day of disconnected service) is the reason why I found a path to getting it done.
I wish I had a t-mobile line so I could go to Tamsha and this T-mobile store in my neighborhood for business/maintenance/help. They will go out of their way to assist, even if it takes significant time and energy, and they will be sympathetic and helpful even if it appears it won't get them business.
No phone service is great, but T-mobile has a great set of associates here, and it will make the occasional pain and trouble pass as easily as possible! Highly recommend, and they will certainly be getting my business after my new 1-year plan with another carrier is about to conclude. read more
