A dead good T K Maxx! It takes up the entire top floor of the Victoria Shopping Centre, and the first time I came here I accidentally spent an hour and a half trying stuff on. There's a good range of homeware too, and lots of shoes. Generally tidier and better stocked than the other TK Maxxes I've been to, too. Unlike the previous reviewer, I don't like this TK Maxx! I found it to be far too hot inside (too much glass maybe?) and a bit cramped. Despite Harrogate being a lovely town, the store was still a bit too messy for my liking, and parking is a real issue - you have to park in the main car park and walk (fine, unless you've just filled a couple of trolleys with bargains!). I have never found anything in Harrogate TKM that has excited me, perhaps because the folks in the town are that little bit more knowledgeable and grab the designer bargains as they know what they are. I can't get past 2 stars for this T K Maxx. There is indeed a lot of decent stuff available and it's well priced. The problem is two-fold. Firstly the stuff is crammed into too little space so, for instance, kitchen knives are all squashed onto way too few hooks and in no apparent order. That means you have to look at every hook to find what you want -the area is disorganised and looking for anything is time consuming. Secondly customer service. This is as important to me as anything else when I shop. If customer service is bad that's a major no-no. In this T K Maxx I encountered truly spectacular customer service and all for the wrong reasons. I picked up 2 items and took them to the till where one person was serving and a large crowd of people stood waiting. As I approached I heard the sales assistant say 'this is the returns queue, you'll have to queue over there (pointing to the main till area) to pay'. I looked at the main till area and there was NO ONE standing behind the tills. The increasingly agitated group I stood with waited patiently to pay for our goods, but after almost 5 minutes no one came. As it was getting on for the time I needed to be at work I was concerned and eventually gave up, leaving my 2 items in the till area. When I had a lunch break later in the day I returned and wasn't surprised to find the same 2 items still in the till area - the backs up my point on organisation, of which there is little. This time I was able to get served and buy my stuff but the girls who served me gave me such a flimsy bag that once I was about 100 yards from the store the bag split and my 2 purchases spilled into the street. All in all this is a very irritating place to shop. Bargains sure, but you have to fight to get to them and then wait an age to pay! read more

This is a huge shop, covering the whole of the top floor of the Victoria Shopping Centre. If I wished, I could easily spend a couple of hours here- there really is so, so much stock! OK, admittedly, usually obly about 15% of the clothes there interest me... but, hey, it's nice to have a peruse through all of the clothes rails, trying to find some hidden gems. In my opinion, this shop always has a really good range of hosiery, bags and jeans. I've bought some really good quality suitcases from Harrogate's TK Maxx in the past and they were such bargains! To conclude, if you have some spare time, go to TK Maxx. If not, then you might not want to bother as it takes a long time to find the good stuff amongst the rest of the tat. However, I am very, very picky when it comes to my sartorial choices... others may not be too fussed and, consequently, will be able to find much more in this shop that appeals to them! read more

Called in to the Harrogate store on my way home looking for Ciccia handbags (by the former Radley designer Ruth Pinnock) which had been stocked in the Leeds store last weekend but unfortunately didn't find any. Most of the other TK Maxx stores I've been in are better laid out than the Harrogate one which doesn't seem to display the clothes very well. I guess they are trying to cram a lot in. Have bought a few bargains here over the years and well worth a rummage if you have half an hour to spare. read more
