There are community basket ball games that are scheduled here, along with yoga and other recreational and team activities. What really impressed me is the professional and friendly manner of the staff in handling in-person and phone inquiries. Most were prepared and knew how to provide you with the information or services you needed. I sometimes would see younger children using the gym equipment and worried about their safety, but for the most part, there was an older adult attending to the child or close by.

For our first annual Mother's Day Honor Lunch, we decided to go to Brookwood. I am thrilled with our experience! They had an abbreviated menu that weekend. We both had the Mesibov salad to start. I was wonderful and from what i understand, Brookwood is known for this salad. For our meal, I had the eggplant, and my friend had the pork chop. We also had a choice of delicious desserts. I chose the cheesecake. The serve was wonderful, the food was tasty, the atmosphere was perfect with a piano player, and the dining area was clean. I noticed a faint smell of cafeteria type scent, but it dissipated in a few minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The "Community" is such a wonderful space for people in need. Clothing, shoes, bags, home decor, candles, gourmet snacks, Brookwood Community handmade items, a whole western hat and boot section, and so much more! They even have a local artist gallery with high end artwork and sculptures. One of a king beautiful piece! I like that the items were rare-ish finds. These are not items you will find at regular stores. They are more boutique type items. We also shopped in the beautiful garden. I purchased a lovely Bougainvillea for only $25.00. A regular store near me would have sold the same plant for at least $35.00. The ladies in the store are super helpful. I am glad they aren't close to my home because living nearby could be dangerous on my wallet. Even though prices are good, I wanted to buy everything in the store!

The chairs were hard but that's after sitting for long periods of time. From time to time we couldn't understand the performers due to the echo but mostly the sound was good. From what I've been told, this was the first Civic Center established in Fort Bend County, and there was nothing like it for years until some of the other suburbs started making their own. Despite its age, it's been kept up with very well. The lobby area is well maintained, there's ample parking with the school district parking right behind the building, and the acoustics are solid. In the main area, there are tiers of seating, including a balcony, and the chairs on the floor are movable so different setups can be accommodated. There's a lot of potential. I really think the city needs to figure out more ways to put the building to use. It would be great for smaller events that wouldn't fit well at the Stafford Center's theater.

For both outdoor and indoor activities, this is an incredible option for folks in the community. The space is substantial with a bevy of options that include a skatepark, swimming pool, tennis courts, an enormous children's playground, and lots of room for folks looking to exercise outdoors. It is a pet friendly area and a perfect destination for families, social gatherings, and even special occasions. Parking is abundant all throughout the property. The neighborhood center includes a gym + fitness center (#1), basketball courts, and indoor walking track. There are venue spaces for both adults and children for up to 25 people at no cost. There is also after school enrichment programs for kids, teens, and additional programs for seniors. There are volunteer opportunities and community development programming throughout the year. Because it's still fairly new, the facilities and everything are in good shape. Time will tell if they will be able to maintain it but for now it serves as an ideal resource for folks looking to get active and be a part of the Alief community. You can find anything and everything related to community gatherings here: a skatepark, enormous children's playground, ping pong tables, indoor basketball courts, lifting equipment, lounges, library... the list goes on. I stopped by to finish some remote work in the library. It shares space with a kids enrichment area, so I recommend noise cancelling headphones if you need to focus. It's not as expansive as some of the other libraries, but then again, the Houston Public Library system has set a high bar for itself. The endless list of recreational activities deserves so much praise, but this center offers valuable services as well. I saw countless residents lined up for tax guidance, immigration law, and a clinic for women and children. Alief especially benefits from this establishment as a minority predominant community, with many of its residents living in less privileged conditions. I don't think I've ever seen a public facility this massive. I'm so proud of Alief's local leaders and the City of Houston for making these plans a reality.

Came to pick up a family friend from camp with my own newborn and toddler in tow. After waiting in the carpool line I pulled up and proceeded to load them In. A young lady told me I can't stop but to just be quick so I continued. I'm not sure how you safely put kids in the car without stopping, so i didn't realize this was problematic. The next lady that approached me was extremely rude yelling at me that I can't do this and she's going to report it. I let them know I don't the system, but if they tell me a better option I would be happy to do it. There was no reason to be that rude. Politely offering a more appropriate solution would've been sufficient. Instead this lady was aggressive with me as I was juggling two toddlers and a newborn in the Texas summer heat. The last thing I wanted to do was slow down the line, but being nasty about it when the first young lady told me it was ok feels like her anger was misplaced. Unacceptable.
