So, I decided to give her a break and research a tree service solo. I contacted other services who didn't call me back, but when I put in my information onto their website, I got a punctual call. The Grubb rep was professional and helpful accommodating my hectic schedule. The field reps visited my property and provided a reasonable estimate, and again worked with me for my hectic schedule to drop my trees. Billy and Luke rang my door, stepped back, and met me with professionalism and courtesy. They explained the process and all potentials, allowing me to ask questions, get advice, and make the decisions. Billy and Luke then put on their safety gear and went to work. They efficiently dropped my diseased trees threatening my home. I appreciate the cost and professionalism of everyone from Grubb's!!

Poor experience. Bad communication. Will not be using again…read more We hired Grubb Tree to install a french drain and dig out our front ditch. They cut our water line. Instead of calling a plumber, they incorrectly patched it and our pipes were clogged with mud, leaving us with no water. When we asked the onsite manager, "What is your process for handling a situation like this?" the response was "Well you signed an agreement saying we aren't liable for these types of things. People don't usually read the whole thing and miss that part. As long as it [cost to fix] isn't too much, we will do right by you guys." We felt like this response wasn't helpful as it turned the relationship from collaborative to adversarial. We solved the problem on our own by calling 3 different plumbers to assess the issue and 1 providing a fix. We then tried to coordinate with Grubb Tree to cover the cost of the fix. At this point, we determined that it would be best to coordinate with Luke Grubb who originally estimated and contracted this work in order to ensure that the repairs were reflected in the contract.  This is where the communication broke down. Instead of putting us in touch with Luke, our calls were seemingly screened and forwarded to the onsite manager, who never forwarded our calls. The receptionist said she would "have Luke get back to us", but he never did. After repeated attempts, we were provided paperwork via email that reflected the cost reduction for the plumbing fix and they were scheduled to return and finish the work. This is where we wish the story had ended. Grubb Tree returned to finish the french drain, which they did without headache. When it came time to dig out the front ditch the onsite manager was refusing to perform the work outlined in the estimate, claiming an incorrect interpretation of the imagery and work statement. After back and forth, the matter had to be escalated to Luke. He admitted a "miscommunication" on their part and instructed the team to proceed according to the contract.  The quality of work on the ditch was insultingly poor. It was clear from the haphazard discarding of topsoil and snakelike pattern of the cut out "ditch" that the onsite team was rushing this part of the job and adhering to an almost malicious compliance and interpretation of the statement of work. We understand that mistakes and miscommunications happen. However, we expect to be treated with respect as the paying customer. To us, this would mean our contractor ensures that our voices are heard without condescension. It also means that our contractor performs work of a reasonable quality and assumes a certain level of care. Unfortunately, in this case, we feel like Grubb Tree didn't meet these expectations and it resulted in a poor overall experience. Therefore, we will not be doing business with them again.

Richard's and Blade Runners was 3 times the price of any of the other ones. Big Steve and Edwards both had very fair pricing and nice service over the phone, but I went with Kenny Jenkins on recommendation from a friend. Turned out to be a GREAT decision. Kenny Jenkin's had the lowest price (Steve and Edwards were very close) and the service was phenomenal. Michael (son-in-law of Kenny) and his team were fast, professional and very accommodating. I had a few small requests that they promptly took care of. They even cut up chunks of maple from the felled tree and put it in a box for me so I could use with my Big Green Egg. They cleaned up well too. Everything you want in a tree removal business. Heck, any business should be run like this. Kudos, guys.

He agreed to come back and finish the job. He didn't, and when I finally got him to answer my emails/calls, he pled poverty and asked for more time which I was happy to provide. But, once again, he didn't return and refused to answer calls or emails. I filed my complaint with the BBB and, after 8 months of trying to get him to honor his contract, moved on. I asked him to itemize the estimate, and what he presented to me was quite general and not very professional. That should have been the indicator I needed to look elsewhere, but we were in a hurry, so we hired them. They ripped out two kind of perennials from our flower beds and mulched over the bare spots; they didn't trim the hedges they said they would; and they put a bunch of mulch down where we didn't want mulch. When we objected to paying the full amount for such shoddy work, they finally offered to discount the price by $200, but were generally belligerent about it. Please save yourself and find a different landscaper.
