Szyn Thrift Vintage is a new second hand clothing store in Lauderhill in the Promenade Shoppes kitty-corner from Tates Comics. They were founded by Nicolas Szyn who grew up in a thrift loving family. By the time he was 19 he was able to rent a small warehouse space to start his own business and when he was 21 he was able to open his first store in Kendall. He also operates a warehouse for wholesalers. The business motto is "It's more than a piece of a clothing, it's a piece of history." Szyn wanted his store to fill a niche between thrift and high end vintage stores. The goal is to make vintage pieces affordable while helping the planet by keeping clothing out of landfills. I found the Lauderhill store to be large, clean, and neatly organized by category and color of clothing. A sign on the wall lets you clearly know what everything costs. On the day I visited most of the tags I saw were red or $8. The other categories were blue $10, green $6, and yellow $4. They also had a $2 bin. They had some very expensive clothing hung up high. I saw a Misfits jacket for $5OO and a Star Wars shirt for $999. They also had some cool old Universal Halloween Horror Nights shirts. There was a good selection of colorful men's Hawaiian shirts in tropical prints, denim and leather jackets, sports jerseys, and Marvel t-shirts. Everything is pre washed and ready to wear. Inventory coming from their warehouse arrives frequently so check back often for new items. Just make sure you examine everything you buy carefully because all sales are final. They do not allow returns, refunds, or exchanges.

Great selection and organization.

I love the great selection of clothes, shoes and accessories this store has curated. Staff are always helpful and friendly. I highly recommend going to Maria, the (Lead Cashier) at the Lauderdale store. Maria is very efficient, patient, friendly, kind & always making my thrifting experience pleasant & fun. Working in customer service is never an easy task but the fact the Maria can provide phenomenal customer service, and the ability to manage difficult and rude customers while always remaining calm, profession and smiling is her virtue. I LOVE this location and only come to this location because of Maria plus thrill of thrifting is to find unusual and unique pieces that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Don't walk RUN to American Thrift in Lauderdale and ask for Maria!!!!

After waiting about 20 minutes in the 7-items-or-less checkout line, cashier Noemi refused the sale claiming there was "no price" despite the visible handwritten $5 marking. What was more frustrating was that she took the item from me, brought it to the back to the manager, then returned without the item and both refused the sale. The item was already damaged and labeled AS IS, so the refusal made little sense. Very poor communication and customer service experience, especially after the long wait. Disappointing experience over a $5 item that was clearly marked. Not coming back again.

We were having dinner in the plaza and decided to a little thrift shopping after. This Goodwill was large and well organized. It had the mixture of new and used items that they have been carrying in recent years. They had rows upon rows of men's women's and children's clothing along with a rack of holiday ready outfits. They also had s few pieces of furniture and a home goods section where I found some cute Christmas decor that included a naughty Santa, a reclining reindeer, and a bucket of Lefton China churches. It's always an adventure when you thrift because you never know what you will find,

I didn't ask for a receipt and she didn't offer one before I got back in mu car and drove away. I was very happy to get rid of my trash so it could become someone else's treasures.

They were in the process of rearranging items and shelves, so it was pretty hard to navigate. We did try to see what we could while there. In the back of the store are racks of clothing. You had to squeeze between the racks to see anything. And on the racks the clothing is jammed together. They may have some bargains here. They have a bit of everything -- especially bric a brac -- and anything else you can think of. But it is challenging. Prices seemed reasonable. So come with patience and if you're looking for something specific, ask the staff so they can put you in the right direction.

The inside is a bit cramped but I am convinced you can find gems if you really look. I quickly spotted some vintage Crestone Buttertree stoneware plates from Japan that have become very popular on Ebay and with collectors. They also had a few pieces of furniture, books, collectibles, household goods, toys, and a lot of clothing towards the back of the store. Prices on the few items I checked seemed very reasonable. There is a Family Thrift, Women in Distress, and Goodwill nearby so with this store you can have a nice little thrift outing.
