I have reviewed a few locations in Poland that served "the best steak;" however, I had not been to this town yet.
So there we were, walking through Toruń, perusing restaurant windows and smelling the air, seeing whatever would grab our eye because all the "Yelp" locations said it was all "Polish" style food in the area so we didn't bother looking at reviews, etc.. If all the places only served the same style food, lets just roll the dice and see what catches our eye instead.
It was a cool overcast morning so the low light and candles flickering on the tables inside made it look cozy and classy. Its exactly where I wanted to sit and relax and eat. We popped in and were immediately greeted by a handsome fella. He sat us at the window seat within seconds! The window seat had these large high wingback chairs which made me want to nap. They were so comfortable but so hard to sit-up and eat in but I still enjoyed it.
Our waiter was equally as handsome, kind and smiley! I truly wanted to order everything from this location. I was surprised at how many families with small children were eating here, considering the atmosphere (romantic yet casual) and the price (first date level prices.). We popped in for a casual lunch but once we saw what they had to offer it was game over. Our meal turned into an entire brunch/lunch/dinner. I had been seeking a place that had pumpkin soup and there it was! It was very pumpkin yet a perfect rich flavor. Next, we ordered the Polish steak for the main course (albeit full from the soup itself), but we were so glad we did. The Polish steak is hands-down the softest/buttery/juicy/melt in your mouth cut of meat we have ever had in Poland. Honestly, I would drive the 3hrs to get here just to eat here again. I will be day-dreaming about this steak. I hope they always serve this cut of meat. My knife just sliced through the medium-rare filet like butter. No sinew or need to really chew (lol), because it was that beautiful. Hats off the the Chef and the staff. I have had waiters come out with one meal at a time and pour one glass at a time of wine, but this location would send 2 waiters at once and serve you both at the same time! Even with the 2 different glasses of wine that we ordered. Each waiter had a separate bottle and served us both at once. I felt so special, like a Princess at a banquet hall. As I was leaving I took a photo of their hours for future reference and could barely see behind all the "Award" stickers this location had. If I could reach out to the "Michelin" folks, I would ask them to stop here and rate this place. It definitely deserves "Michelin" status.
