This is the state-operated liquor store in the Hötorgshallen, Systembolaget. Living in North Carolina, I'm used to this sort of thing. The authorities like to control distribution of alcohol and in Sweden it is done through this organization that is generally referred to as "the system." They are the ONLY retail store in Sweden that is allowed to sell alcoholic beverages that have more than 3.5% alcohol by volume.
If you're looking for better beer (take away) and spirits (like vodka, rum, gin, and such), this is it. Prices are clearly marked and aren't excessive. An interesting effect to this is that you might find some bargains on name brand spirits compared to the more generic brands. There are no specials and all are sold at room temperature, i.e., beer is not refrigerated. Be prepared to show some sort of identification to purchase.
Note that Systembolaget's stores close by 8 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on Saturdays. They are not open on Sunday, or certain holidays. So plan your drunken debauchery ahead of time, or just go hit up a pub.
