As I was photographing the front door, one of the owners, Paul, invited me in. He said they are actually open now, but the official grand opening won't be until Saturday. You can read the news story about their opening here: https://www.nevadaappeal.com/news/quilting-company-opening-in-carson-city/# The business is at 2311 North Carson Street. It is in the plaza where Denny's and Jimmy John's is, at the northeast corner of North Carson Street and Hot Springs Road. The business is closer to Hot Springs, and is in back of the highly-visible Denny's. According to the hours posted on the front door, they are open Tuesday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM (the article above says 10 AM to 6 PM), and Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM. Their phone number is (775) 301-6447. I was very impressed by the place. There was an assistant at the desk upfront, who was quiet, and the store was very long. Paul said it was the perfect size for his business, as his machines were long as well. Prior to acquiring this space, he had been using two of them for his business at his home in Dayton (one in his garage and one in his living room). But he finally rented this retail space and bought a third, very large machine to put in there, as well as the two from his home. His wife, Ruthann, is a co-owner, but she was volunteering at the hospital today, so Paul brought his two beautiful dogs, who were sitting in the back. They were very well behaved. There was also a sitting area for customers with two colorful plush chairs in the front, as well as coffee. Paul showed me how he makes custom quilts, demonstrating how it works on his computer monitor and how he sews the fabrics together on the machine. He will not sell goods at this business, but complete customer quilting orders. He has three ribbons by his machines (one red, one white, ans one blue) for prizes his quilts have won. His wife is modest, he said, so she does not like to hang them on the walls. So on Saturday, the festivities are from 10 AM to 2 PM. There will be a raffle for "free quilting", four give-away drawings, freebies, and refreshments. Paul was extremely nice and humble. You can tell he takes great pride in his work and business. It was a breath of fresh air for me to meet him and see this. His passion alone is amazing. I know his customers will be very satisfied.
