I also learned a lot about parenting from our discussions and readings at our parent meetings (especially "No Bad Kids" by Janet Lansbury). The co-op experience is unique because you get to be in the classroom regularly along with a parent coach and two to three other parents each day. It creates a very special community experience, and you get to be there with your child as they learn and grow. As a new parent with a Covid baby, I was so thankful to find a strong community at Pea Pod. I'm still close with many other parents from our cohort, and I love that our kiddos have known each other for over half of their lives! Most importantly, I feel like my child was truly cared for, respected, and allowed to be herself at Pea Pod. This meant - and still means - so much to me. It was the best childcare experience I could've wished for during those two precious years of my daughter's life, and I would recommend Pea Pod to any parent looking for loving care and a community for themselves and their child!

Peapod is an unlicensed, unregulated co-op preschool operating out of Tabor Space in Portland. As…read moreof July 2025, they were cited by DELC for unlawful care. No license, no DHS oversight, no required training, and no accountability if a child is harmed. They employ Jasmine Kennedy, who is unregistered and has no early childhood education experience (confirmed via her own public LinkedIn profile). She doesn't lead activities or engage with the kids meaningfully. Crafts were never more than paint haphazardly smeared onto paper out blocks of wood. Never once did we see a semblance of any kind of planned lessons or sessional activities from this "teacher." (Even through peapod says she's not a teacher, she's listed as such on both their website and her own LinkedIn). Multiple children, including ours, disclosed being grabbed, yelled at, and made to feel unsafe by her. When we raised concerns, the board shut down communication, deleted our posts, and said we needed to "manage our energy" at drop-off. No one ever asked how our child was doing. A leaked multi-page board document reveals a disturbing pattern: after a child disclosed being hurt by Jasmine while alone with her, the board portrayed the parents as the problem. They called the mom manipulative, overly anxious, and mentally unwell, implied her concerns were racially motivated, and labeled both her and the child liars. Jasmine was described as emotionally overwhelmed and burnt out, with the document centering her discomfort, not the child's safety. Multiple other parents had also shared concerns about Jasmine being rough, but those were ignored as "boundary setting." Instead of addressing her behavior, the board unanimously voted to terminate the family's enrollment claiming the family was "a harm to the community." Since speaking out, Peapod leadership has labeled us mentally unstable, mirroring the retaliation described in their own records. Peapod uses community-friendly language, but behind the scenes it silences parents and protects unqualified staff at kids' expense.

Our decision was based on what I perceive as a shift from a pure Waldorf approach to something more of "DEI with Waldorf flavor". Additionally, I've observed a biased behavior from the school administration, including instances where students were bullied and harassed by current and previous administration due to their parents' differing views on the school's ideological direction. * * * For a detailed explanation, please visit https://www.wokeinschools.org/cws/index.html. I've provided supporting documentation on the review page and am happy to share more upon request. * * * The above is the review I originally posted in 2023. Since then, it has been repeatedly flagged and removed by Yelp, who claims it violates their Content Guidelines -- a claim I strongly dispute. I believe it's important for parents to have access to a full range of opinions -- both positive and negative -- when choosing a school for their children. This helps them make well-informed decisions about their child's future. For this reason, I will continue to repost my review.

I see them collaborating and helping each other. They really build a child's confidence and help them to find their individuality. With their accessible financial aid process and the generosity of this school, my daughter has had years of exceptional biblical teachings and academic schooling. The respect trickles down to the students and offers a kind and loving environment. I find their ways truly amazing. Clearly led by Jesus Himself, this school is the tops! Teacher Susan was so kind and patient and taught our child the skills to be successful with her academics through a program that I liken to OT/PT for the brain. Worth every penny. She started with…read morethe math program and, as a seventh grader, is currently working more than three years above grade level. A couple years ago, she begged to do the reading program too and worked hard to complete it within a year. Doing Kumon has given her confidence in her math skills, accuracy and speed. She isn't a huge fan of the extra homework that she does daily as she works to complete the math program, but she loves being the kid in her school math class that all the other kids turn to when they need help. She loves easily earning top scores at school. While the Kumon program is the same no matter which center you choose, the centers are not all the same. Debbie brings a warmth and encouragement (for both student and parent!) that we didn't see when we visited other Kumon centers. All her assistants go the extra mile for the kids. I don't think my child would have succeeded the way she has without Debbie's personal attention and encouragement. Debbie always knows whether my child needs to be pushed harder or given additional support, when E is slacking off or overwhelmed. I highly recommend Kumon in general and Kumon of Lake Grove specifically.

If you want…read moresomeplace where your kid won't learn anything and the guy doesn't give a shit about anything then go here if you actually want your child to learn something please go to another location. It used to be very good but ever since the old owner left and the new owner came and took over shit has hit the fan. The thing that she mainly does is trying to get you to read his emails what you should but that's not really stupid she also wants sent out an email about how this isn't a place to do homework in that it's a classroom but he still first day doesn't give a shit if your child learns anything and only cares if he makes a profit. He has made it so that there are the maximum amount of seats in there because he cares about profit and sets kids back randomly. When I went there he wants decided that enough is enough and the molded meal level also if you don't like it establishment and tell him you're going to move he will try to bribe you there's been multiple times when he's gone outside and offered an adult 100 bucks if they stay now that is downright dirty you ever go here again then go far far away go to a better one who won is good but when it's handled by the wrong person it becomes a cluster fuck. Last but not least the dude has made it so that there are very little rewards and incentives in fact if you wear a shirt with it in you'll get an extra prize because he needs the free marketing in order to stay in business if he didn't have it then he would surely be lost down the toilet do not go here at all he is a narcissistic piece of shit.
