I was never a student nor a teacher at Sylvan Learning Center but i am currently working as an Admin/ Teacher Assistant. It is my pleasure working there for two and half years now. Throughout my time being there i have came across a lot of children learning so much and actually becoming interested in school. I saw alot of parents happy with the progress they have seen in their children. The children who come not liking the subject that they are having trouble with end up enjoying the subject. There are a lot of good supporting teachers and staff who are willing to give the children all the knowledge is needed. I even told my aunt who lives in Canada to have her son join Sylvan Learning Center because i told her that it will be worth money and time for her. Now, she has told me that because of what i have told her, she has seen a lot of progress in her son math level. I can say that Sylvan will also give every bit of encouragement and motivation for the children and parents. As a parent of a teenage son I've learned that distractions can play a major roll in a child's learning. The staff at 3132 East Tremont do a excellent job at not only teaching but putting the fun and focus back into learning . They take something as important as school work and connect with each child personally and individually Not only does my child BELIEVE he can pass his Regents exam but he also BELIEVES in HIMSELF .And a large part of that is credited to not only the academic lessons put in place but to the heart felt staff memebers who work there,and treat and care not only for my son as they would they own but as they do all kids that walk through they door. My son tells me all the time "daddy I learn more there in a hour then I do in school." And that means the world to me . I just want to say Sylvan learning center of the bronx is the best thing that has happened for me and my son. I enrolled my son at sylvan in June 2016 because I didn't know what else to do. He was failing his 3rd grade reading. His teachers had assessed that he was his reading was at 2nd grade level and he was going to be held back if he didn't improve before the school year was over. I then enrolled him at Sylvan and within a few weeks his teachers at school noted an improvement and continued to see an improvement in his reading. Sylvan of the Bronx is great even the staff is very pleasant and help you understand the child's progress. Ms Fatima and Ms Mina helped me to understand how my son was doing. I have used Sylvan in the past to get my two older children assessed. With our youngest we realized that unlike her two older siblings she required some tutoring assistance to bridge the gap to ensure she was ready to handle 6th grade. To our surprise after only 24 hours she was already close to her goal. Her second report card is due out in a few days and she has already improved her ELA grade from her first quarter by 20 points. We could not appreciate all the help the staff has provided and how comfortable they make our daughter feel week after week. Hi My name is Tristan and I am nine years old student. I started at Sylvan because I was having difficulties in my understanding in reading. I only have been attending Sylvan's for two months and my reading has gotten a lot better. They have taught me how to read slow and out loud, so I can understand what i am reading. If you was to ask me to read something two month's ago I would have told you no. I didn't like reading out loud I didn't like reading period. Now i don't feel embarrassed and now I am very comfortable in reading. I also feel that if I would never have gotten my one on one that Sylvan provides for me I would not have made it this far and continue to go further. read more

I'm thrilled with Sylvan Learning Center of the Bronx. The staff is knowledgeable, patient, persistent, hard working and determined. They work with my grandson until he, not only knows the skill, but, is confident in the knowledge that "he can do it". The Director of Education is very adept at getting to know each child's personality, modality of learning, need for differentiated instruction. She works tirelessly to keep the students focused, engaged and on track. I recommend Sylvan to any parent who wants to get their child the extra help and one-to-one tutoring they may need. My twin 6yr old daughters came to Sylvan in Oct 2016, this place is wonderful. They were doing 4hours a week each. Sylvan has helped my daughters with their reading and confidence level it is amazing. Their first marking period they had a grade level 1 now the 2nd marking period they are at level 3. In their school the grading goes from 1-4, 4 being the best it is absolutely AMAZING how far they have come. I enrolled them again, it is a little pricey but it is worth the money to see your child achieve that level of success. The staff is awesome and are always willing to work with you. I have worked for Sylvan Learning Center in NYC since 2001 and have never seen more dedicated teachers and felt more of a part of a community that cares about the academic success of their students than here in the Bronx. My 7 year old grandson needed remedial help in both Math & Reading. I enrolled him at Sylvan Bronx after his prior enrollment to Kumon. The Sylvan method of teaching appears to be much updated than Kumon. Kumon uses in-class work pamphlets and requires take home daily homework booklets whereas with Sylvan, work is done on and iPad with a one-to-one "teacher". Michael is an ipad fan and therefore looks forward to learning on it. The school teacher's report shows an improvement while Michael has been at Sylvan. We like the program and intend to continue with it. read more

Wish I would've enrolled my daughter who is in the 3rd grade now sooner!! When I first enrolled her in the program two months ago, she needed about 116 hours to be at grade level, I was only able to purchase 86 hours and I'm happy to say she has made great improvements in her progress where she did not need 116 hours. She enjoys using the iPad and receiving tokens to purchase rewards from their learning store to keep her and the other kids motivated. Would recommend to family and friends. After our child's first session at Sylvan, she came home describing how "amazing" the experience was. Since then she has even said she wished she can go every day. The staff was able to pin point her weaknesses, and develop a plan suited to her needs. They make interacting fun by using Ipads, and a coins reward system where kids can purchase items with the coins they've earned. Prior to the session, we dealt with the programs director, who was extremely helpful, and compassionate. I would highly recommend this institution. read more

Sylvan Learning Center is committed to helping kids reach their fullest potential. I noticed a tremendous difference in the motivational level of my niece and nephew. They were enrolled in Sylvan's reading, writing, and math summer program. When they returned to school in September, they did not fall behind on the skills they learned from the previous school year. Great place to learn. I think the teachers their really care, they really focus on the child weaknesses and strengths. My daughter has improved tremendously in algebra 1. When she first started, she was only getting one out of every 4th question correct, now she has improved leaps and bounds and getting 3 out 4.
