This is a large, fantastic, County-operated park. The location on the outskirts of the small…read morevillage of Hampton is safe, and the locals are friendly and welcoming. The section along the Mississippi River (located just below Lock and Dam 14) offers tent and RV camping, and also has a boat ramp. This section closes in November to vehicle traffic, and reopens to vehicles in the Spring. This area, located just below Lock and Dam 14 is also a popular place to fish. The large campground is very nice, and is popular with locals and with people from out of the area. There is a field here, and across the highway, planted in Prairie plants. Also across the highway is a large, hilly forest preserve with a creek and multiple ravines. This area has a very large network of well-maintained trails that are designed for shared use by hikers and off-road bicycles. A local bike club helps maintain and expand the trail network. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Sledding is allowed in the winter in a cleared area accessible from the lower area. The forested area is accessible from the lower area by the highway, and from the top near a County highway maintenence barn (the road to the upper section is the first street to the left as you enter nearby Hampton, IL).

Also, you can only stay two weeks per month. In September you can stay three weeks. We are in the area for the months of June and July. Even without a sewer hookup we'd stay the entire time, if there wasn't a time limit on it.

I am really appreciate her listening to what I was looking for and helping me select the best product for my feet. I never felt rushed to make a decision. I had time to walk around try many different pairs. Great experience.

Don't buy anything from this place if you even have a slight thought that you may have to return…read morethe item. I personally just drive right on by this place , not because of the products offered, or the staff, it is because I w once purchase a pair of hoka expensive athletic shoes for my wife that were on a small discounted out of season sale. I live 70 miles away from the store. My wife determined that she would need a different size so we returned to try to exchange the unworn new shoes. This was during an extremeley cold and icy period of weather here in central Illinois. There were no other sizes of said shoes available so we just ask for a refund. Then we presented our receipt, only to be told that we were one day late for the refund of the sale merchandise shoes. 1 day! I expressed my displesure of the return declination and ws referred to a manager that gave me a scolding, but eventually accepted the new unworn sale shoes that did not fit as a return. I am appreciative of the acceptance of the return, but because of this getting dragged through the mud before acceptingthe return I have chosen to just stay out of this place and have not returned! Retail managers sometimes act like straw bosses when the owners give them a stripe on their arm and they think they are a general in the military. It is said that one bad experience in a retail establishment will take seven repeat returns with a good experience in order reestablish a trusted relationship with said business. I cannot vouch for this because I will never go back to bushwacker toget BUSHWACKED by the management!
