I went in last year about Christmas time to ask about how they would frame a piece of artwork in a shadow box. The woman sitting at the counter with her co-worker was very unresponsive. She kept saying that they do all types of framing, and just bring it in. I described the piece as a 1-inch painted canvas block, and asked if they had any samples I could see, or if there was a price range for shadow boxes or mattes or glass, but she kept saying, "Just bring it in." If she can't even provide any idea about the most basic issues that a customer might have before they bring in the artwork (pricing? sample materials?), what kind of service is that? I think she was just more interested in getting back to her conversation. A final note: Since it was Christmas time, there were some candy canes on the counter. My son who was with me asked me quietly (but in a voice that no doubt the clerk heard) if he could have one. I know that I wasn't a paying customer yet, just an enquiring one, but usually a store clerk would happily offer a young child a simple candy cane. She didn't say boo. It's the little gestures (or lack of gestures) like this that showed me what kind of customer care I could expect from them.

But i moved into a new house and wanted to use my own personal works of art to customize my place - that alone didn't motivate me immediately, instead i was asked to loan them out to a restaurant for public exposure which i thought was a good opportunity, so here i was in a time crunch to get 5 large pieces of art framed and ready to go in a week and a half... I saw this 'junky' looking place from the outside frequently when i used to work near Scarborough Town Center - they often had art work on easles and in fancy frames with SALE signs out side. I went to DeSerres and Dear Me! they were going to charge me a fortune for a simple black or a simple stainless steel frame and they couldn't do the job in a week either. I called The Art Forum and gave the owner the sizes of my canvases and he quoted me the prices which were more than 50% less than the generic art store. He had a variety of similarly priced simple frames and took the time to show me what one would like against the art vs another finish of the stainless steel frame. and he was done the work in 2 days! His prices are modest, and he was very accommodating and courteous. When i picked up my art, he helped me load it into the car, and i also got to see the rest of the store (which is larger than it looks from the outside) he has some good deals on clearance art - already framed. I'll def. go back to get framing done, and to buy a unique beatiful piece of art.

I told Pat my story and asked if she had some ready-made frames with wiring (as it was a requirement for this exhibition). She pulled out a few frames and said she could do the matting etc. I asked how much before committing and when she said $82 for each, I was relieved and pleasantly surprised. Further, she would do the framing right there and then. It was a pleasure to watch Pat frame the drawings in front of me, taking sure care. The drawings looked so amazing. I was able to ship the drawings to the exhibition on time. I am so grateful.

I visited in early May to have a few pieces framed. I told Graham that I was moving at the end of…read morethe month, but wanted to have the framing done beforehand due to their stellar reputation, and he said that this would be no problem. Because I was spending a large amount of money, he offered a package price including a digital scan of one of the pieces I was having framed, a sentimental image of my great-grandfather. About a week before the move, I received a call that they had either forgotten to order or misordered one of the frames. I clarified that I was moving at the end of the month, and again was reassured. In the end, I received the call that the images were ready on the last day of the month - my moving day. My husband had to drive back a couple of days later to pick up the framed pieces. I called Graham the next day, complimenting the framing but noting that I'd not yet received the digital image. He assured me that it was on its way. A few weeks later, I called again to follow up, whereupon he said that he had lost some images from his hard drive but was working to recover them, and promised to follow up via email. He didn't, so I emailed about a week later. I was told that the image was lost, but that if I wanted to drive back again with the photo, he would make the digital image then. I reminded Graham that I had moved, and asked if he would be willing to provide a partial refund instead of the digitization. He responded with a very angry email, noting that the digitization was a courtesy he had offered due to the large amount I had purchased, and thus he was basically doing it "for free" and should not be asked to provide any refund. The framing work alone was excellent, five stars. Three stars deducted for multiple episodes of poor customer service related to this order.

Mr Graham, who I am assuming owns this store, is a dishonorable, unprofessional, pugnacious,…read morerepugnant, and overall repulsive personality to deal with. I terribly regret "working" with him (in quotes because he did not actually finish the job that he is so clearly incompetent at). I had paid $750 for three 14inch x 14inch artworks to be framed, on October 15, 2024. I was given in writing that this would be completed by the first week of November. After the first week of November passes, I call them on November 8 to check on the status of the order since I had not heard from them. On the call, Mr Graham notifies me that the frame I ordered was on back order and he did not have the work done yet (mind you, when I had placed the order, they had called their supplier to check regarding the availability of the frame, since it was an irregular frame). He further informs me that the work should be done by November 11. Not having heard back from him on November 15, I once again called to check the status of the order. On the phone, he gets short and tells me, "I have four customers waiting in line, I told you I will call you once the work is done." They are willing to accept new customers without completing the work for prior orders. On November 18, when I call again to inquire on my order, I told him that I will be leaving on November 22 and would need it before them. He goes on to tell me, "it should be complete by end of day today, but definitely before the end of the week." My mistake for believing that. He further tells me that I will be offered a partial refund for the delay. Come November 21, his associate, Jezzelle Westmaas, calls me twice though its during work hours so I cannot answer and call her back within 30 minutes, twice. She had not picked up but I saw she had left a 2minute+ voicemail, with no words. I assume it's to inform to come pick up the frames, since it is close to 6 weeks that I had placed this order. On November 22, I go into the store to pick up the frames. Mr Graham says only two frames of the three are "complete" and that he did not have the frame for the third. In fact, they were not complete. They did not have any hanging mechanism on the frames. When asked about the hanging wire or hooks, he tells me, "it's going to take 10 minutes to install them." I let him know that if it needed ten minutes, it could have been completed in the near 6 weeks he had the frames. At which point, he informs me, "get out of the store, I am not giving you any money back." Unlike him, I had not raised my voice or been short with him during our conversation. When I am about to leave, he tries to tell me, "let me at least give you half the money back." Mr Graham -- after the way you spoke with me and told me to "get out," why would you expect me to speak with you any further, when you are clearly at fault? Just look at the manner in which he response to people in other Google reviews if you do not trust me. Later, he texts me offering a refund (see attached screenshot). Please, Mr Graham, don't worry about the refund as I have initiated a fraud claim with American Express for the full amount for incomplete service provided by you. To add insult to the injury, see the photos of the shoddy framing work that he was able to complete. The frames are dirty and unusable. I will be finding someone else to salvage this job. PS: if you do somehow end up at this store despite all the scathing reviews, notice the utter and haphazard disarray they are in before giving them your business.
