My now wife and I decided to get married in Sydney as part of a larger trip we were planning (we're…read morefrom the US). We realized pretty quickly that we had no idea what we were doing as neither of us had been to Australia. We didn't know anything about the marriage process there, locations for the ceremony, or even what we should do in bad weather. We did a good deal research on celebrants and spoke to a few before we skyped with Meggan. Of everyone we spoke to, Meggan was the one who seemed to best understand what we wanted for our ceremony and also gave the most helpful suggestions for how we could achieve it. We could tell Meggan was on the same wavelength as us, so we moved forward with her as our celebrant. We wanted a really small and simple ceremony, so we went with Meggan's "no-frills" option. Even with this option, Meggan did all the necessary paperwork, helped us make decisions in the time we needed to, and she was incredibly patient with us (we're contradictorily picky and indecisive). Meggan also skyped with us a few days before the ceremony so we'd all be on the same page for how it would go, which made us feel ready and gave us an opportunity to clear up any last minute questions we had. The ceremony itself was everything we hoped for: simple, sweet, and fun. Meggan was wonderful to work with and we felt comfortable that we were in good hands throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Meggan as a celebrant for anyone looking to get married in Sydney.

Hi Aithne, Thanks for touching base. To be honest with you I was actually quite disappointed with the event. The boat was quite run down with the toilet door not closing properly and taps not working that people couldn't wash their hands after coming out of the toilet. The outside part of the boat could do with a bit or repair as well as there were a few holes making it a little unsafe. I didn't notice this on the night as I wasn't drinking but I was told later by a colleague that the boat staff were drinking some of the alcohol we bought. They would pour us a shot and then pour themselves a shot as well. I thought this was quite unprofessional, especially on a boat. A few of my colleagues got drunk that night and said it was because the bar staff were pouring the equivalent of two shots into each mixed drink. Think it would be good if they could be a bit more careful when pouring drinks. It was good that there was a lot of water available though. Food wise there could've been a bit more. I think a few people were still a bit hungry. Half of the potato salad was also very undercooked. It was like biting into an apple. Music wise it was great. I think people enjoyed being able to plug in their phones and play their own music. Staff were accommodating in waiting for late-commers even though I know they can potentially get fined for staying too long. Please let me know if you still need me to fill in the survey or if the above is sufficient. Hope you have a great Christmas. Thanks! Angela I never heard back from her. Terrible customer service!

His work and level of customer service, such as going out of his way to build us a custom website, where we can show all the photos to our friends online, was exemplary. Decent hotel located in Wooloomooloo just north of Kings Cross. Closest train station would…read moreprobably be Kings Cross as well. Sydney Boulevard is a nice hotel. Rooms are decent sized, the wifi is awesome (guest room or public area), there's a nice buffet breakfast on the 2nd floor (it is a bit pricey at $18.50 AUD, but everything is expensive in Australia now-a-days), the upper level rooms have views of Sydney Harbour, Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, there's a ground floor coffee shop, there's car parking, and there's a Wooloomooloo market next door. The rooms are rated pretty cheap as well, book through: hotels.com The front desk and concierge were very helpful. My flight from LAX landed early and my room wasn't yet ready but i was able to leave my bags with the concierge and started my tourist visit early! I came back a few hours later after visiting Darling Harbour and our bags were already in our room. Complimentary In-room refrigerator as well. Only downside, the cable tv sucked and didn't offer enough channels, no ESPN to watch my American football either! And a person like me can't watch 24 hours of cricket!! Overall a good stay for me in Sydney. There are plenty of restaurants around the neighbor and Darling Harbor or Circular Quay are about a mile away from the hotel.

Party accessories are a dime-a-dozen, pick 'em up in a two dollar shop, be creative, add a few flowers from the garden and some bits and pieces from coloured paper - Bob's your uncle. But I made the mistake of going in, and now I think I'm spoilt. Sure, you can buy balloons at 20 for $1 or cupcake cases in huge quantities, but they just don't hold a candle to the luxurious collection of brightly coloured or metallic balloons and cutesy pastel cake cases available here. Not to mention helium - what a gas! - who can resist a helium balloon? Let alone a bunch of five tied together with coloured ribbon and held to earth by a wee sachet of yummy lollies. Only one drawback: it's not cheap. Even I draw the line at paying Born To Party prices for party bag guff - for that, I'm back to the two dollar shop.

As a girl from Melbourne, the Cup is very important for me, so receiving an invitation to Swifts…read morewas a Godsend. Sydney doesn't have a public holiday on Cup Day. Crazy I know, because it makes Sydney-siders lackadaisical about the whole affair. I however, bought a new dress, donned a hat and whisked a girlfriend off to the grand old castle. Arriving at the gate, there were many glamorous sorts who were after a day of high class excitement. A flute player greeted us at the top of the pathway and we entered the grounds of this exquisite residence. Table-clothed tressels were covered with platters of all sorts of goodness, patiently waiting for devouring. When that time came it was delectable. The gardens are divine and there are many little nooks and enchanting trees to make your imagination soar with romanticism. Exploring the building we stumbled across an enormous room with a gigantic television. It was encased in a gilded frame. Opulence at it's most extreme. An International DJ supplied the tunes. A bookie took most of our money. The race was run and my winnings collected. This day of perfection ended without a hitched skirt, or heels in hand or drunken pashes. All of which disasters are commonly associated with the races. It was a day of pure class. If you want to impress colleagues, or marry the man of your dreams, Swifts has just the right amount of magic to help you do so.
