Honestly, I used to hate it, given its cluster-***k, traffic-jam design...BUT, I'm happy to say that the place improved over the years. It now houses many cool places that I love, like Le Peep and Kung Fu Tea, for starters. I guess the strength lies in the numerous number of restaurants and eateries, including many ethnic varieties (from Japanese and Malaysian, to Cajun and Greek). The big minus of this strip is the lack of cool retail stores. There ARE some retail stores, but not so much in terms of boutiques. Also, again, the overall design layout is somewhat wild, random and awkward. One of the highlights of this place that many may not know is this lake - complete with fountains and ducks (see pics) - behind several restaurants, like Chili's. It's a great place to stroll around after a huge meal or a drink. Anyway, this is an old staple of South Charlotte...and I'm glad to see that it's still thriving!

As developers are more geared towards the "outside mall" theme for convenience, these modern day amalgamations of mall and strip mall have seemed to be the flavor of the day. Moreover, the ease of getting in and out of the area is easy considering the two main streets it resides on within a stones throw from the highway. Obviously the anchor store or interest point is Stone Theatres Sun Valley Cinema. This facility is clean and most of the auditoriums have very up to date audio and video equipment. The movie theatre is immediately flanked by restaurants on the right and left, catering to those families that may want to grab a bite to eat after the flix. As for the kids, there's a frozen yogurt shop and moving further out, a "lego" type of store and a pet groomer. There are more restaurants of a few different cuisines as well as a tabacco shop, hotworx, bridal ware, nails, you name it. Further out, a CVS is there, more nails and restaurants including live music at a few places, fast food, spa, salon and so on. SunValley has a lot of what most families need in a very small area. So if you're with the kids or a couple looking for some fun on a Friday night, chances are this area has you covered. Drop by and stay for a while!

More than just a shopping center, it's a place for shopping and eating and entertainment. I'd guess that just about anything you need is here, short of a car dealership. The 14 screen movie theater is at the apex of the shopping center, surrounded by casual and fast dining restaurants. Two coffee shops, beauty shop, pharmacy and two separate auto repair outlets are here. Urgent care, wedding wear and even a funeral home. Yep, everything. Easy access from both sides with a very large parking lot that is designed to keep folks from going way too fast. And there's still room for more development. Yes, it's mine, I'm an only child so deal with it. :P I have gotten better about sharing as I've matured, though so I'm happy to share the good news of my shopping center, and I'll even encourage you to go there. Need groceries? No prob, Harris Teeter has got you covered. Night on the town? Hit up Marshalls for some new digs. Pets? Petsmart. Want to feel beautiful? Ulta. Hungry? well there is a ton of selection for your tummy cravings here. You can go as junk foody as pancakes, with the IHOP, or have a little taste of the classy side with Table 274. There are at least 7 places to get your grub on in this village. Art Supplies, Toys & Bath & Body works oh my, after all that, you can head to Books a million to get your psychotic book craving tamed down temporarily. What? You don't have that problem?? Oh crap, then maybe I should head next door to Rite Aid for some prescription drugs, or just an energy drink.. Ok, enough of my rambling. You get the picture, there's A LOT of cool stuff here. Only 4 stars because of the parking situation. They have alot of spots, but it's just an odd layout. I feel like I'm a stalker following people as they walk to their cars, so I can hopefully snatch up their spot, and nearly rip off the mirror of the other vehicle parked next to them as I'm staking my claim. Dang that only child syndrome!! Or if I'm the one walking I feel as if I'm in Frogger... but, hey I guess it keeps me spry right?

On my recent visit to Toy Mania and World Market, it looks like some of the tennents are switching out or in transition. There also looked to be a season Christmas store that was getting ready to open. Between the stores are outdoor spaces... something that Panera (and a patio) takes advantage of. The Harris Teeter and other shops at the other end of the shopping center round out the stores and why the parking lot is super busy all the time.
