A year after the re-branding of this store from "Saturn" to "Mediamarkt", the style seems to have…read moregradually changed as well (apart from the colour change from blue to red). Although prices and products didn't really change, Mediamarkt uses more aggressive advertising and wants to be perceived as a the cheapest store. This unfortunately comes at the cost of customer service. But don't get me wrong: the place has an amazing variety of products, from CD/DVD over kitchen appliances, refrigerators, televisions, computers to vacuum cleaners and while price levels and service vary per department, some of them have the best price/quality ratio in the area. After multiple visits over the last years, my feeling is the CD/DVD/game department is one of the best. You can trust that you rarely will find a cheaper price for most of the items, even on-line on sites as bol.com. The staff is also very helpful to find specific products and order them for you if they are out of stock. The computer/electronics/camera departments provide a bit less service: on multiple occasions I was told they could not order me QWERTY keyboards or laptops because they're not available in Belgium (while Coolblue at the other side of the street does sell them), or that specific brands or models of external hard-disks or computer accessories are not available for order (even if the supplier website lists Mediamarkt Belgium as a retailer for their products). Once I was also told that they don't sell CompactFlash memory cards anymore because there was decreasing demand (which appeared to be untrue, because a month later they were again in stock). Prices for these products are often also more expensive than competitors, except for products in a promotion sale or on advertising. Overall, a good store for expanding your music and movie collection, and worth visiting when shopping for electronics and household appliances (but do compare prices with others for these products). Apart from Dutch, most staff also speaks good English and some French.

I bought there a wifi router last summer. Sadly, it was not compatible with my laptop, so, I could not use it at all. After few days of trial, I took my laptop and router and vent to Mediamarkt, where I bought it. Clerk could not fix it neither. So, I wanted to give that router back to the shop or exchange for something else I can actually use. When I asked about it , got an answer, that as I have opened the box with router it became second-hand product, and they do not exchange or take second-hand items back! From the bottom of my heart !!! what kind of answer and what kind of service is that? I lost my money, that router is still somewhere, and for now on I'll avoid Mediamarkt at any costs and will advice to do so for anyone I know...

Worst. customer. service. ever…read more I live abroad and my laptop is suffering from a swelling battery, clearly fabrication mistake. Unfortunately, to get it repaired for free, I need to bring it into a repair center in Belgium. After an assessment in the country I live, the Macbook should definitely be repaired for free since there was no indication any of this could be due to my mistake. The representative was unable to answer my questions regarding papers they need and process clearly and was not willing to contact me after some research or even send me an email. A shame, and I know what I am talking about since I an working in this industry myself. Sad, very sad.
