The school classrooms are large, filled with fun toys, treehouses, and interactive play. The teachers are the most loving and caring and truly know my daughter and let her personality shine. The preschool offers many activities for parents to join throughout the year, which have been very special moments. The outside playground is well kept and continues to grow with new activities added, like this year's Mud Kitchen! There is also a large indoor gym for when it's raining or too cold. Miss Pong, the director, has been great. When my first son was there, and I was a nervous mom, she was very kind and reassuring. I was very impressed with the education they received. My second son told me all about palindromes! When I asked Miss Anne if I was hearing him correctly, she told me that it was something she told the class, in a very basic way. But he retained that knowledge and now he likes to tell me when it's 11:11 and "that's a palindrome mom!" The facilities are very good, I liked the layout very much. The playground is just the right size for little kids, the fence around it is very reassuring with little kids running all over! I also really appreciated the security of getting into the building. I wish our grammar school had that system. I have a third son, who is too young for the program. I have no doubts where he will be going when it's his turn.

This school was once a truly special place. Unfortunately, that changed dramatically starting in 2023. While Lakshmi Mohan may have had a positive impact elsewhere, her involvement--along with the actions of the school board--coincided with a period of significant disruption and decline at the Elburn location. The result was a mass exodus of students by 2025. In 2023, two highly respected and beloved teachers either resigned or were dismissed mid-year. When concerned parents asked for transparency, they were met with dismissive, evasive, and at times manipulative responses from the board. While the new teachers who stepped in were wonderful, it was evident they were operating under strain--likely due to board-level dysfunction. I believe most of those teachers have since left as well. Several parents witnessed teachers being treated with extreme rudeness and condescension during board meetings. Meanwhile, board members repeatedly made commitments to parents only to later deny ever making them. Communication was marked by stonewalling and an alarming lack of accountability. The behavior of the majority of the board exemplified toxic power dynamics. If I had to sum up their attitude toward parents, it would be: (these are not direct quotes) -We never said we'd do that. Be grateful we even let you enroll your child here. We should charge you more. You're lucky to be here, and your opinions don't matter. Despite this, we are grateful for the time our family spent at the school--specifically for the wonderful teachers and fellow families we got to know. The teaching staff was truly exceptional, and we will always appreciate their dedication to our children. I don't know how many families plan to return, but it's possible that a new cohort could offer a fresh start. Still, I feel compelled to share our experience--not because I expect change (which feels unlikely), but because families deserve to know what they may be stepping into. Transparency and honesty should be the bare minimum from a school administration. Unfortunately, I don't believe this board values either, nor do I believe they take parents' concerns seriously. For further context, here's an excerpt from a June 7, 2021 article in the Akron Journal Star regarding Discovery Montessori in Ohio, where Lakshmi Mohan was named as the administrator in the article: "Over the four years of inspections, the state documented 30 infractions, including: Class sizes exceeding legal limits Unsupervised toddlers Unsafe playground equipment Hazardous substances accessible to children, including pesticide Medication administered without prescriptions Dangerous furniture setup in toddler rooms Many of these issues were noted repeatedly in prior inspections and went unaddressed." We were referred to this place from a friend who also had kids there, and assumed Our first time with a daycare will go smoothly. I DO NOT recommend taking Your child here. The first day (and only day) we dropped off our 13 month old there, we were told that he did not sleep, and had a fever...AFTER his mother had picked him up. We noticed that he had a bruise on his head as well, and only after pressing them for more information they told us that he was banging his head on the crib. Few things to point out- In their own policies, if the child gets hurt in anyway they will contact the parents. My gf was told when she picked him up. The pictures they send throughout the day shows that he got the bruise HOURS before she showed up. Next is the fact that he developed a fever and they STILL did not notify us until he was picked up. And finally, after probing them for the policy violations they committed they admitted that it was a mistake on their part and they should have notified us IMMEDIATELY. I cannot convey my anger enough in this review because after we took him home so he could finally sleep and tend to his fever, he had a fibril seizure and was transported to the hospital. He was at Kindercare for 6 hours...and everything I was worried about having random people taking care of my child was validated. So to sum it all up, on the FIRST DAY our child: -could not be put to sleep -was neglected long enough for him to bang his head against a crib to develop a bruise on his head -developed a fever which the parents were not told until he was picked up. Like I said they admitted they did not follow their own policy so we received a full refund for the week, because we were NEVER coming back. On a side note he is doing better at a different daycare, obviously better taken care of than at this place. So if you're looking for a place for your infant, like another reviewer said on here DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE.

The genuine care they showed to our kids (and our whole family, honestly) for the past four years has been extraordinary. My kids were happy to walk through those doors every single day. We were always greeted by smiling staff members. The kids learned so much from the curriculum they used. The teachers made everything so fun! (Ms. Pam, our kids were talking about your St Patrick's shenanigans JUST today- you created memories they'll never forget). We took advantage of the phonics enrichment they offered (Ms. Alison, we love you!) All kids also received some Spanish curriculum, too! We received pictures, notes, and updates daily through their app. The directors, Ms. Rachna and Ms. Alyssa, are simply wonderful. They work so hard to make the center a true community, and we enjoyed all the daycare parties they hosted outside of normal hours to allow families to connect and socialize. Our kids were safe, well-fed (thank you, Ms. Jackie!), loved, and engaged every day. Leaving this place for elementary school was genuinely so difficult because of the relationships we built here. If you're looking for a "home" for your littles, do not overlook this exceptional place.
