This allows for a calm, warm environment. Kendall has been a wonderful teacher. Due to her getting injured, we've had a few substitutes. They've all been wonderful, and each has emphasized different skills and brought a fresh approach with my child. We are so grateful for this place. We also like all of the staff, who are warm and friendly. My 2 year old knows them all and looks forward to seeing them each week. They have now updated their policy to allow for one make-up lesson per month. This is really great -- especially during cold and flu season. I took one star off because the changing room is a bit awkward and the floors could be kept cleaner. It's a co-ed locker area, with some private shower stalls and private changing rooms, but the showers and changing rooms are at opposite ends of the locker area. The built in locks on many of the lockers don't work or are stuck on lock position. It's all good, definitely not a reason not to bring your kid here, and we make it work. (By contrast, we had taken our older child to the JCC at this age: it was crowded, loud, followed a script that couldn't accommodate different kids' needs. We kept trying with the JC summer camp for 2 years, and he still can't swim! It turned him off swimming and only now, at age 8, is he starting to warm up to the idea of learning to swim -- mainly because his younger brother is loving it.)

Sarah is a really great teacher and she gave me some helpful tips to get my youngest more comfortable in the water. Everyone is very helpful and patient - and I feel like they meet each kid where they're at, based on their swimming level. If you're thinking of giving Imagine Swimming a try, please take any negative reviews with a grain of salt. I've noticed that there are some really high-strung parents at this location, and I honestly think the staff here does a fantastic job, despite this as an obstacle.

Not a fan. I deeply…read morewanted to love this place, but things didn't go well. I enrolled my 3 1/2 year old daughter, who before coming here used to love playing in a pool. She didn't know how to swim, yet, so we were excited for her to finally learn doing something she so much seemed inclined (and willing) to learn. Coaches seem to change very frequently at this location, as she experienced 3 different instructors in a handful classes... hard to get to trust a person with such lack of consistency. After a couple of successful lessons, she was progressed to put her head under water too soon, and eventually didn't want to go anymore. We tried to motivate her by asking the different instructors not to progress her that fast, but by the time they followed our input, they had already lost her: she wouldn't even get inside the pool anymore. Now a year has passed, and she STILL doesn't want to go back. We have suggested a different location with different instructors, but she just doesn't want to go. Clearly, the system they used at this location ended up causing the opposite result, which is a complete rejection of swimming and pools in general. Obviously, I can't be happy with this. Now we have no idea when she'll be able and willing to go back. Not recommended.

He's been stuck on the same swim level for about 6 months now, learning almost nothing new. I have friends who have kids in other swim classes who are far more advanced. The person who answers the phone for the NY region is not accommodating at all. She didn't care in the slightest that we were cancelling due to a very simple fix on their end. Plus there is a continuing registration fee that they charge you every year, that just seems like a scam. All in all, it's okay but their policies are out of date, not accommodating and there are better classes in New York.

My child went here last year because we like the pool in this particular building. Other than that,…read morethis place has nothing going for it. You can't enroll online, so you call them and call them and call them. You leave messages, which they don't return. Fill out online requests, which they also don't respond to. Finally someone answers and says you can't enroll until after such and such day. Because although they can't seem to get anything else remotely professionally, they're real sticklers for hard dates. So you wait. You call back and no one answers another 3 or 4 times. Finally they pick up 4 days after the date they told you has passed and now they don't have any classes left. When you do manage to get a class, forget about doing a makeup because they just sell whatever's available to whoever wants to do a drop in with no preference given to people who already pre-paid for all the classes. This is exactly the kind of crappy and unprofessional business that will hopefully be a thing of the past when people start reacting to being treated badly while simultaneously paying out the nose for it. You know what year it is. Fix your stupid website. If you can't get it together enough to have online enrollment, try to get someone to answer your phones. If that's too hard, at least maybe bother to update the locations, dates, times, anything at all so every piece of relevant information isn't completely WRONG.

There were a handful of lanes in the narrow pool, yet at least 2-3 classes given in one lane at a given time. So, even though there was 1 instructor and 3 kids, it was crowded and they had to course around each other. Not great when you're learning how to swim. The worst part was that the instructors and even supervisor had ZERO enthusiasm or knew how to make the class exciting for kids. It was a trial class, and the instructor nor the supervisor even introduced themselves to the my kids. The woman instructor, I think her name was Danielle, never even smiled once. The kids got in the pool and she said "do the backstroke" to my 7 year old. My son, thinking he's a good swimmer and giving it a go, tried to swim or float on his back but only sank. She didn't say anything like, "OK good try" or "let's work on your form". She just told him to swim to the other side of the pool. Meanwhile, he can barely swim. I spoke to the supervisor about my concerns that the instructor is not giving my kids any pointers or tips on how to improve their swimming. Just barking orders. He said, "oh, she must be off today, she's usually good." After 30 min watching her completely destroy all the excitement my son had in learning how to swim, I complained again to the supervisor and even spoke to the Take Me To the Water office on the phone. They said they will speak to the instructor after the class and that we won't be charged. No apology. No other solution. And, they even said that instructor was one of the senior ones. This is a swimming farm that has no business teaching young kids. You're lucky if you're instructor is nice. I ended up booking at Asphalt Green. They have great kid-friendly instructors.
