We were living in NY state at the time and relied on Shawn as the general contractor to oversee the work. When most of the work, but not all, was completed, Shawn asked for the final balance because he said he was short on money. He gave us his word that he would finish all of the remaining items that needed to be completed. Unfortunately we believed him and made the final payment. We have been unable to get in touch with him since that time. He ignores our calls, texts, and emails, which have included a detailed list of items that were not finished. In addition, we have had problems with some of the work he did complete and have had to pay other contractors to correct, including, but not limited to: new smoke alarm going off for no reason and had to be replaced; new air conditioning system had to be completely cleaned out due to drywall dust/debris from contractors; several electrical outlets and lights not working; several lights in contract never installed; improper installation of hurricane windows-missing screws and improper screws; improper sealing of refrigerator water intake line causing ant infestation which ruined new refrigerator water/ice system; contractor lost new front door key to lockset he installed so door had to be rekeyed. While some of the work he did was good, some of it was quite shoddy, especially the electrical work. There were many instances of not following clear directions provided by the client and a lack of follow-through on the project. We would like to warn other consumers to be very wary of Shawn Ament and Ament and Sons Construction.

You see I had 66 tiles and needed 80. So I decided to do a border around the tile first, this way there will be enough tile to work with. Let me say Jeremy and Matthew did a great job. They put it in, and it's perfect. The way Jeremy suggested to arrange the tile, was just the look I was going for!They are on time, worked very hard, cleaned up every evening when they were done for the day. On top of this they completed the project, on time and it's beautiful! I could call or text them anytime day or night and get a response. While setting up the appointment I explained to them that this is NOT my house and although it is not my house and NOBODY will be home, the homeowner gave us permission to be on his property without anyone being there. The day of the appointment passes, matter of fact several days pass after the appointment date and no communication was sent out to give me an estimate on the work that needed to be done. I finally reach out to them myself and ask what the outcome was and they continue to explain to me that they went there but nobody was home. Not sure where the confusion was when I explained it just about as clear as I could and then for them to not contact me 1) while on site or 2) after they left is completely unprofessional. I would not recommend using there services as they do not handle their business appropriately.
