Small, convenient, and fun! Came in here on the Friday before Mardi Gras to try their King Cake eggrolls. Definitely some sweet thangs!! Luckily, there were two of us and a small kid. Way too sweet for my tastes, but it was still great. The other two gobbled them up. It's definitely a serving size that's big enough for two (or three) depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. Sweet Thangs NOLA is a small spot, but it is in an easy, convenient location in the French Quarter, so popping in is no problem. The space itself is colorful and festive, very on brand for New Orleans. The woman working the counter was genuinely sweet and patient, which always makes a difference, especially when it is your first time and you are trying to figure out what to order. We decided to try the King Cake egg rolls. They took about 12 minutes to come out, which honestly was not bad at all. I considered ordering something else, but after overhearing another guest mention a longer wait for her food, I decided to hold off. When the egg rolls came out, they looked great. The Mardi Gras colors definitely pull you in and get your expectations up. Taste wise, they were not bad, but I was a little disappointed. The filling seemed to be mostly cream cheese and it completely oozed out with every bite. There was not much texture or contrast inside. I was expecting actual king cake pieces or at least something to give it more bite. Instead, it tasted almost like a sweet, yogurt-like filling wrapped in a crispy shell. It was not nasty by any means, just not what I was hoping for. That said, I always enjoy supporting local businesses, and this experience will not stop me from coming back. Oh Sweet Thangs I can't wait to go back! I had the crawfish nachos, pasta, banana pudding, and peach cobbler, and everything was delicious. This place is the cutest, and I wanted to try everything on the menu! Since I couldn't, I've already made a date to return. This place stops you in your tracks as you walk by, and when you do stop, you hear the lovely accent, "Hiiii, we just opened, come in and try!" and well, of course I did. I'd heard about Sweet Thangs before, but had no idea they were in a brick-and-mortar now! I asked for cheesecake and it was just perfect, exactly what I wanted. I also sampled a few ice creams and the owner was very patient with me and my inability to choose just one thing!! They also serve food now, which I'm dying to try soon. Honestly, the value is great too ,you get a lot of flavor, service, and charm for what you pay. The owner was so lovely, makes you feel right at home. A relative stopped here and asked if I wanted something. After hearing what was on the menu I decided on the seafood spicy bowl. Listed at $18 (If you look at previous reviews the price has gone up in the last 4 months and her menu keeps changing) My cousin got the combo spicy bowl ($20) and i heard her on the phone ask what it came with because she was a bit confused. After clarification, it seemed the combo came with all the meats plus a pig lip. So I was rather confused when my cousin dropped my food off and the bowl was not giving $18. If I was there to see the bowl she would have never got my money because I wouldn't have left her establishment with that. I didn't like what I was given of course ima want my money back that $18 coulda went towards sum actual food. And this is our message exchange. She gone say sum "Only issue I see is it can be more seafood" The whole point of paying $18 was to get a SEAFOOD SPICY BOWL if I barely got seafood wtf am I paying for?? Peppers and Juice??? For our first time trying this place (and was so excited), we were very disappointed. Ordered the wings and loaded tots and were told it came with 4 wings but got 3 instead. The wings were chewy/undone. The cheese for the tots was nasty. Also gave one of the special ice creams a try but they didn't have the right ice cream and it was nothing like pictured at the register. Very overpriced for the very little food you get.
