Current status: longing for a Snowie Shaved Ice…read more Snowie Shaved Ice of Kansas City is a great business with local owners, ready to meet your shaved ice needs -- whether that means you need one personally, or you need your whole family to get that shaved ice rush, or if you want to book them to visit a larger organization. We worked ahead with Snowie Shaved Ice through their Facebook page to book them to visit our school during band camp. Needless to say, it was a big hit with the band members. Take your pick: carry a tuba in the hot sun on an asphalt parking lot in early August in Missouri, or grab a Snowie Shaved Ice with your choice of customizable flavors? Not only can you customize flavors, but you'll find the serving size is ample and the shaved ice consistency on point. I had previously visited a different shaved ice vendor who will go unnamed and after a minute the ice was essentially a single block and the whole experience was very frustrating. If I'm looking to get my ice and sugar rush, I need it quick and I can't be fighting a block of ice with a plastic straw. Snowie Shaved Ice of Kansas City delivers the ice that's smooth. Look them up on Facebook and visit them whenever you can. Your summer will be better for it.

The one on Flintlock is the one I visited and am reviewing. Came here after having dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Would have preferred ice cream but other people in my party selected this. It is a small shed located to the side of the parking lot in a shopping center. They had picnic tables with umbrellas for seating and a trash can. Not the most scenic place to sit in a parking lot near a road but I digress. People in my party had small sugar free cherry, small tiger's blood with pina colada and I had the North Shore which is passion fruit, mango & pineapple, with coconut ice cream and snow cap. It was tasty. I have never had shaved ice in Hawaii only snow cones so it is much better than a snow cone but I can't compare it to shaved ice in Hawaii or even on the mainland as it is not something I have sought out before. They have a lot of choices. Individual flavors or a menu with specialties. Staff was friendly, order came out quickly. I didn't pay so I am not sure how much it was but a small is listed on their website for $3.75. I am not sure if the specialities cost more. It was a fun experience to have but not my personal favorite thing to have so I would probably not come again.

The first time I had the Peach Cobbler Sno-Ball and it was literally the best shaved ice I had ever had! (and I'm a huge shaved ice connoisseur). The 2nd time I had the Orange Dreamsicle Sno-Ball and it was equally as delicious. When I order at the window, I always ramble and mush and shower them with compliments because the owner is just so sweet. He always has me try my Sno-Ball in front of him to ensure that I love it. A New Orleans Style Sno-Ball truck! On a hot day like this, that's PERFECT! So, they do one thing. But they do it WELL. The shaved ice is so soft and easy to eat with a spoon. The flavors are delicious, and they put enough in so that the entire cup (which is huge btw) tastes great. We went with two of the specialty flavors: Grandma's Custard and Peach Cobbler. Both were killer, but Peach Cobbler is the winner in my book. It was sprinkled with cinnamon, which I think is a great touch. Another great touch? The low price! I can't recall how much it was, but certainly affordable. The guy was nice, which is always a bonus. He said that he is usually set up at First Fridays and then in the Bottoms for First Weekends. So far no web presence, Twitter, or Facebook, so hunting the guy down seems to be a challenge. But if you see this truck, I implore you to go treat yourself to a Sno-Ball!

You could probably split one among 4 people. It's also a cute place to hang out, pretty pastel and wood cozy interior. I really liked the shaved ice cream! The texture was light and fluffy and while it reminds me of bingsoo, it's creamier because it's cream instead of milk I think? Overall it ended up being quite rich, especially with all the whipped cream, and the matcha flavor is a little too sweet. Next time I'll probably try a fruity flavor (and bring friends). I think this place is worth trying at least once! Really unique ice cream that I haven't seen or tried elsewhere.

We had two events that were supposed to be held here, one was quite out of the blue (so I understand the outcome) we called into the shop and no one was there (although it says it is open) I was just disappointed due to the lack of warning or signage but I still understand- the second time though is unacceptable. We had an event planned at this location for two months, the day we were going to go in we wanted to call ahead and let them know a large group would be coming in- no answer. We arrived and it was closed. PLEASE for the love of GOD. Run a functioning business- with regular hours or at least provide updates to a website/signage so people don't plan to have an outing there- if you want returning customers please act like it. I'm so sad to leave this review- I really do love this place their icecream and employees are so pleasant but I will have to find somewhere else to go. I wish the owners the best and o hope management and fix this and make this place enjoyable again

Well, we visited the Ethnic Enrichment Festival apparently at the same time as every single other Kansas Citian, which meant massive sun baked lines that no one had the patience for. To top it off, our daughter saw all these delicious sno-cones people were enjoying as we headed for an early exit. So Yelp came in handy as we found this spot over at 85th and Wornall, somewhat hidden in the strip center. The staff was pretty slammed but was friendly and did a good job getting everyone taken care of. To be honest, sno cones aren't my main thing, but I liked the Pina Colada one with coconut cream and most importantly, my daughter liked hers as well. They also don't skimp on the flavors/syrups, and have a handy ice catcher rim around the cups. Appreciate this spot for coming in clutch for us and turning a tantrum around!
