Hands down - the smallest shop on the street is in fact The BIG Sandwich…read more Now I like sandwiches. I like them big. So when I saw this place I had to step up and see what they had in stock. It turns out it is neither the shop nor the sandwiches that are particularly big but rather the selection. Sandwiches, baguettes, toasties and wraps are the main sellers all with their own specialities like the 'brie and cranberry whole wheat baguette' or the 'cheese and tomato toastie'. Prices are pretty good with most sandwiches being between £3 and £4 to go. If you've got time to stick around they offer a pretty good breakfast, again letting you off with less than a fiver (coffee included). Said coffee is gourmet standard and prepared accordingly. I was expecting to walk away with a monster of a sarnie but wasn't too disappointed with my monster of a smile.

The menu changes daily and offers a wide variety of chicken (anything and everything from a mild honey mustard to the HOT HOT HOT Bomber's own recipe scotch bonnet/ghost chilli Perkbomb) and pork options, and occasionally lamb, falafel or home-made fish fingers. The sandwiches come as small boys (a small soft or crusty roll) or big boys (a bap the size of your face!); alternatively they offer salad boxes or jacket potatoes if you don't quite fancy a sandwich. If you'd prefer something light, there's almost always a fantastic soup (I had carrot and coriander today), but if you're feeling famished I dare you to take on the atomic bomb which is a combination of any three meats and all the salad you like! Its location means that it's perfect for those working in Cardiff city centre (or the Bay) as well as those indulging in a bit of shopping, although I regularly travel out of my way to treat myself to a cheeky sandwich. If you've got time on your hands, I'd also suggest taking a seat and having some tea or coffee and a slice of cake. Having recently been awarded 5 out of 5 on the Food Hygiene Rating, it is safe to say that Bomber's cannot be beaten on quality, cleanliness or service; as well as doing a fantastic job of supporting local businesses by sourcing local produce.
There has been room for a ridiculously good Sandwich shop in Bristol for some time. Don't get me…read morewrong, we do have a couple of spectacular bread fillers, but Sandwich Sandwich are a welcome new addition to central Bristol; their sandwiches are incredible! They have a few hot sandwiches, a couple of hot flat breads and all of your standard sandwich fillings. Why is it so good? because everything is top quality and their passion is obvious. The beef is thick and rare. The chicken, weather it be coronation, mayo & sweetcorn or any of the other varieties they do, is stacked on and accompanied by any of the salads they have on the counter. You can tell that they want their customers to be as excited about their food as they are; and I am every time I eat here. But Sandwich Sandwich isn't just about sandwiches. Perched on the counter are the most amazing soft boiled scotch eggs, sausage bakes and delicious cakes. It's almost painful to stand looking at them if you're in a cue; they look so good! The guys have shaken up the lunch time sandwich run in Bristol, and I applaud them for their efforts.
