You get a very personal service in here, and they are a nice independent retailer. Although a little pricey, the occasional treat is worth it, and you get what you pay for. The have a good variety on display and even have gift presents for your loved ones for you to buy. The shelves aren't too over stocked, but they do have a large variety of sweets, chocolates and candy for you to choose from. Try the fruit centre's - they wont disappoint. Pierre and his wife run the store and they really are so friendly and offer a completely tailored service. Pierre obviously cares about his customers and will give you a guided tour of all the wonderful and artfully created chocolates on display, even letting you sample a few on the house. Each piece is a work of art, from dark chocolate dipped cherries and orange peel to Champagne truffles; everything is beautifully made and packaged making a gift from Chouchoute a real treat. I always come here to buy presents for family and have a chat with Pierre. Everyone should sample some chocolates from this shop - you'll never settle for Roses again, that's for sure! This is a independently owned all in house made chocolateria. This is evident when you walk in and see trays of freshly made chocolates. One of the nicest things about this store is the friendly personable staff. My visit felt like a personal shop. I was offered samples and talked through all the options available for me when buying a box. One of my favourite things I bought from here was the hot chocolate sticks which was 2 for £3.50. The idea is you mix these chocolate blocks on a stick into hot milk and makes you a hot chocolate! Surprisingly good! The quality of the chocolate is fantastic! Brands like Lindt have a certain taste to them, and this place certainly has its own taste too. Their unique array of flavours are executed well without tasting cheap or inauthentic. I plan to visit this place again very soon! If your into quality chocolate and live in Birmingham I highly recommend a visit! They are closed on both Sunday's and Wednesday though!

It's worth noting that many items on sale are not made in the shop but rather bought in and branded as Chocolate Quarter. This doesn't at all mean they won't be nice or that the quality will be inferior. That doesn't follow at all. But it's not quite the 100% artisan shop that you might initially assume. The chocolates at the counter are made in the shop. I bought the minimum 4, selected because they were interesting flavour combinations, but I had to have them in a card presentation box and pay £6 for the priveledge. Flavour wise they were all very nice but I wasn't blown away considering they were £1.50 each! And they're pretty small, similar in size to the kind of chocolates you'd get in an everyday 'branded' selection box. So there are very many things to like about this shop and I love that they make some of their own products, but I was left a tad disappointed by the experience. I can't award 5***** because the prices are just too much in my opinion. You may well think differently and I'd encourage you to pop by. A choc filled box would certainly make a lovely gift.

Whilst Birmingham has done so much for English chocolate already, it's hard not to feel like rationing is still on when you look at all the exotic and gawdy wrappings and packaging from the American brands. Our British sweeties feel a bit bland in comparison. As Yankees is also essentially a little cart, the shop further taps into a neat sense of by-gone Americana. It feels like a tornado has picked this place up from the Magic Kingdom and dropped it here. I fully expect to hear a barbershop quartet start up as I nibble, suck and chew. Just a reminder that Yankees also does American crisps and pop - just in case you want to give your sweet tooth a day off. So, all in all, this is the place that makes us jealous of America consumerism again, I wouldn't be surprised if they also stock the nylons and tobacco I can't find.

Massive eggs on display & sale for Easter... you purchase the chocolates in packages, sort of like Thorntons... but they display and appear more... posh upper class style. I was very surprised so many people were buying massive boxes of chocolates... but probably because it is almost Easter time. I have yet to actually taste any of the products, but next time I am in the area I will stop in again. I think this time around I just needed to take it all in. There were hundreds of different types and styles!

Hotel Chocolat isn't cheap, but the quality and variety of chocolates on offer is pretty impressive. One of my favourite Hotel Chocolate product ranges is their drinking chocolate. This comes in a variety of flavours (milk chocolate and caramel drops, for example), and the melting chocolate drops makes for a very tasty drink. I usually end up eating most of it. If you're stuck for an indulgent birthday, valentine's, Easter or Christmas present then Hotel Chocolat is a good shout. Cadbury Crème Egg: This is the king of the Easter crème eggs. If you can't already tell, this is by…read morefar the best crème egg in my opinion. For most of my life the eggs were wrapped in a colorful blue, green, and red wrapping. All strangely not Easter colors. More recently the switch was made from blue to purple. Admittedly, purple is an Easter color, but I still mourn for the blue. Unlike some of the other filled eggs, this one isn't simply a 2D egg shape, but an actual chocolate egg. Biting into it you'll notice right away that the chocolate shell is thicker than its competitors. Although this egg has the potential to be messy, the thicker shell helps to prevent mess if eaten carefully. You could completely eliminate the chance of mess by applying the team big bite philosophy and popping the entire egg in your mouth. The inner crème is thick, paste-like and can be a little runny. There is a pink/orange tinge to it, which I'm told represents the "yolk" (personally I think they should make it more yellow). The crème is of course super sweet and tasty enough that I could slurp it up all Easter morning (which comes with the ineluctable consequence of a sugar rush). Based on the atmosphere and quality of wine, I love this little spot. It is so cosy. We were the only customers in the store and received superb service. The owner runs this location and a few other shops, plus hosts food tents at festivals during Christmas. She came over to our table and made some wine recommendations and gave us a bowl of crisps on the house. My partner, Seth S., and I both ordered the Pinot Noir from Romania. It was delightfully full-bodied and smooth. The lighting is dimmed just enough to encourage good conversation and a comfortable atmosphere. There are two main rooms for seating, each with groupings of chairs or booths around bistro style tables. The art and decor feel like a brasserie. I would highly recommend The Deli for a delicious glass of wine (or 3) and great conversation with friends.

Its a wonderful deli, on the High Street in Boldmere, with outdoor seating - which is superb when the sun comes out! The breakfasts are awesome. Superb sausages, great bacon, exceptional bread, (the deli sells some of the best bread in Birmingham). 2 succulent sausage, 2 bacon, fried egg, 2 half tomatoes, mushrooms. toast, quality butter. Its one of the best in Birmingham, (I rate it joint 2nd). The staff are great, headed by Pip the owner and her team of assistants, (including sons). The only real problem with this place is that I always spend a fortune on their amazing cheeses, breads, cakes and pate's. Try it. You will thank me!
