From there, the Perfect Cup is a short walk and ideal mental reset to transport anyone that visits Matlacha into the prophetic and elusive "Island Time." The bubbly and enlivening environment is enough to recharge you for a play day in Matlacha. It is inspiring to see how much this small community of even smaller business manage to survive and thrive all along a 1000' strip of delightfully walkable roadway. It was one of those days where nothing was going right. It was my best friends wedding and my only responsibility was to pick up her wedding cake from this bakery. I showed up only to realize I had a flat tire getting flatter by the minute. As I began to crash out in the parking lot the owner Paw came out and in a mixture of laughter and concern asked me if I needed any help. God sent. Not only did he help patch my tire, but he also made sure I was ok before getting back on the road. There is also a young girl frequently working the register who seems overwhelmed and inattentive. Orders often have to be repeated multiple times, even when clearly stated, which slows things down even more. It gives the impression that the front counter could use better training or stronger management during peak hours. We truly enjoy the vibe and want to keep supporting the place, but today's $12 panini was unfortunately not worth the price. Between the long wait and the quality not matching the cost, it made the experience disappointing.
