They also carry cheese from other countries. But you're in the Netherlands, why would you wanna buy French cheese here? I didn't know about this shop at first, but it was recommended by my Airbnb host in den Haag. I told her about our intention to visit Gouda and find some cheese, then she told us why go there when there's a cheese shop just around the corner? The guy there was friendly to help us with the selection. He even offered samples from whatever cheese you wanna try. Of course you can't be ridiculous. He recommended plain Gouda without any herbs and spice because that's the best way to taste the cheese, but I'm not really a purist and I ended up falling in love with their fenugreek (medium aged) Gouda. Omg so good, nutty, creamy and tastes a bit like coffee! I have never seen fenugreek Gouda in the US so this is definitely one of a kind. Have a cheesy day!

We were able to make selections from over 100 different cheeses as well as a variety of cured meats. The sandwich rivals my other fave from Alain Alain in Paris. It's a small but charming and quintessential Belgian shop. Traditional in every sense of the word. Simply put, it's a cheese lover's paradise. Catherine is extremely kind and patient as are her employees. They offer the ability to taste samples before making decisions. They're very helpful with making said decisions as well. A haven for like minded cheesemongers means the line can sometimes go out the door, especially at lunchtime. It is well worth the wait because so much love and care goes into every transaction with every customer. A most divine experience indeed.

Was so looking forward to our return trip to Brussels and visiting Catherine's. Over our week long stay we managed 3 visits to pick up cheese, freshly sliced deli meat, bead and made to order sandwiches. The cheeses that we selected were so very fresh and the selection to choose from was amazing. Of course my favorite was the truffle. We picked up sandwiches on two occasions and they were basically the same. The second one Catherine added a new little taste with the addition of three small roasted peppers. We had forgotten to ask for arugula and Catherine asked if we wanted it on this one...what a memory. Catherine's is a small place and always very busy. Quality shines throughout. The customers are almost all locals...another great sign. We noticed that when there were about three people inside that the patrons formed a line out of the door. Think out of respect for Catherine. Wish we had had a quality shop like Catherine's in metro Atlanta. We would drive to experience this and here in the hustle and bustle of Brussels there is a gem. Highly recommend. And my favourite thing here: pieman pies! I love me some pie, especially the vegetarian lentil curry pie. The only thing is, you have to get here early as they don't really stock up quite so well on the pie and it tends to be gone if you don't get here before about two o'clock. But I suppose that if you would want a larger amount or a specific type of pie, that you could put an order in. Because the pieman delivers here every morning. I love the fact that most of the tapas between the cheeses and meats are vegetarian. They have tapenades, olives, sundried tomatoes, cheese stuffed pimento peppers and all kinds of salads with egg and cheese. Love! And that's just the "fresh" stuff, they also have a huge wall with bottles and jars stuffed with other delicious goodies. Also a lot of local (really just Dutch) products which is great! They have a wide selection of mustards and offer complementary samples. The only downside is that, after purchasing several jars, we walked to the near Christmas market and found the exact same products we had just bought at a much lower price.

Düsseldorfer Senfladen - Löwensenf was on our list of places to visit while exploring the area…read more It's a specialty shop that sells one thing: mustard. We dropped in on a Monday (around noon). The inside has a small tasting in the back where you can try all their flavours. There's even an option to bring your own jar and they will fill it for €0,70/100g. Most of their mustard jars ranged in the €1,70 to €1,95 price range. A lot of interesting flavours to choose from. There was also a few bottled sauce options (BBQ, cold brew coffee BBQ, hot chili sriracha, honey and sour cream) for €2,49. - Radschläger senf (€1,70) - this was my favourite. Apparently, it's one of two traditional Düsseldorf mustard brands (the other brand which they also have is ABB). - Löwensenf knoblauch (€1,95) - garlic flavoured mustard. This was our favourite from the Löwensenf lineup. If you like mustard, definitely worth a visit. Reasonably priced too.
