Good sandwiches, excellent service. Great place for lunch. The sparkling iced tea was a treat! Unlike the flat iced teas in the USA, I was pleased at how it tasted. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

We ordered a "uitsmijter" which is basically 3 fried eggs with ham and cheese on sliced bread. It was okay, needed a lot of salt. My table mate had a sandwich "gezond": a bun with chopped egg/cucumber/tomato/bell pepper in a light dressing. It was honestly the most pathetic little bit of "salad" possible, possibly two big bites? And it was 13 euros (about $14) which was severely overpriced. All in all, a big disappointment. The terrace is overlooking a plaza which reeked of urine (possibly because there was a big party there the day before... but still)

Their bar serves up some great cocktails (gin n tonic) and my go-to dish is the lasagna. As for the food, it seems like just about everyone around us the got the sushi boats. They looked impressive and delicious, but our group opted for the 4 course dinner, which was a great value at 32 euros. There are a few optoins for the starter course, ranging from 3 freshly shucked oysters to soup to sushi. Out table had all 3 optoins, and they were excellent, with the oysters being fresh and light, the soup being very flavroful, and the sushi being a bit more filling but very solid. As for the second course, it was the same for everyone, a beautifully cooked scallop. As for the thrid course, we also had choices, ranging from a super tender filet with wine sauce to a beautifully prepared sea bass. Dessert was fantastic, with a lovely sampler of 4 bites! we had creme burlee, amaretto cookie with a nouse, a warm chocolate cake, and ice cream. Wine prices are also reasonable too. In general, I am leary of places that try to do two things at the same time, but Mood seems to pull it off well, offering great continental fare as well as sushi at a great price.

And by that I mean that it is friendly, attentive, and there when you want it, gone when you don't. We had a sushi-boat, which was a beautiful contraption, with absolutely beautiful fish, and grand desserts. There really isn't that much to say other than that this is about the only thing I would confidently recommend in Eindhoven. The interior is well-decorated too, nice clean white space with typically Dutch/Eindhovish modern designs. Well done people, well done indeed.
Boon

If I hadn't been taken there by a "local", I never would have stumbled upon it myself. It was just the two of us and we were able to get seated with no difficulty on a Wednesday night. Inside, it is stylish and larger than it appears from the sidewalk. The front room, where we were seated, is noisy. I wouldn't recommend it for quiet conversation. The back of the restaurant is somewhat quieter. There were some reasonably priced wines by the glass. I had the sangiovese which was quite good. I started with the Bruschetta and my companion started with a special appetizer which was a duck crepe of some kind. I liked mine, he didn't particularly like his. As for dinner, we both had a special - Venison (hertenvlees?) which was prepared with a really rich sauce which was fruit-based and served with chips (french fries). This special was wonderful! Absolutely delicious. What didn't go so well - the service was really slow. The restaurant wasn't that busy but it took them much too long to bring out our main course. Water glasses weren't refilled and we couldn't get a hold of our waiter very easily. This is too bad. The food was very good and I would have given this place four stars if nto for the slow service. We skipped dessert since it took them so long to serve us. However, next time I'm in town, I would give the place another try. The food was too good to pass up.

So, my girlfriend and I sat down by a bunch of empty tables. After no one came over (only maybe 5 min waiting) we went up to the bar to ask for some menus. The bar tender said the place was reserved for a private party and we needed to leave immediately. When my girlfriend asked him to put a sign out as that would be more polite he made a face and said to get the "f" out now... That's pretty bad, and I'm sure the owner wouldn't was their employees treating potential customers (or any human beings) that way!

It's an impressive spread, but the standouts were the house-made focaccia and the vibrant, fresh pesto--you could really taste the quality. The combination of savory prosciutto, mortadella, and mozzarella with scrambled eggs was delicious, and finishing with a cannoli was a treat. Bob opted for the Banana Bread, which was clearly fresh-baked and came loaded with yogurt, granola, and fruit. He loved it. The space itself is intimate and high-energy, but it never felt cramped; instead, it had a cheerful, cozy vibe that made us want to linger. Service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. A definite recommendation for anyone looking for a high-quality morning meal!
