Back when we used to have a clinic in Leon Guinto, Malate, we would sometimes have the trouble of wondering where we would eat once the day's testing was done. Robinsons Manila was somewhat nearby, though there was no quick way to get there other than a taxi, and the Vito Cruz area was an easy jeep away, though sometimes you just want to eat in a place where you could get away from it all.
When Sweet Avenue opened just down the street, we couldn't ask for anything better. Tthe place specializes in cakes and baked goods, as the owner is a pastry chef. We've seen him working in the cafe itself with cake icing and fondant and the things he comes up with are gorgeous, and to be sure are just as delicious as the cakes they offer in their display. They also serve great comfort food too, and all pretty affordable.
What really sealed my love for this place is how accommodating and welcoming the owners were. We can be a rowdy group and the lolo and lola at the place (the owner's parents, I assume) were always so sweet and chatty that we couldn't help but come back again and again. read more
