Sweet As or Sweet Ass? No... We're not talking about Beyonce! We're talking breakfast! Or more like brunch for those of us that roll out of bed around 11 and don't eat their first meal until after noon. Sweet As does a great brunch!
It's a smaller little place with a cozy vibe, which is how I like my cafes to be. The menu is very simple and straight forward. They have an eggs benny dish because of course they do. Every brunch spot in NZ does eggs benny. They should just make it the national dish of NZ already. They do a few normal-ish breakfasts with your eggs, bacon, toast, shrooms, veggies. But my go-to every time is the sweet as waffles! Three waffles, streaky(soft) bacon, kiwi, strawberry, fried banana, whipped cream and syrup!! I highly recommend this, Not overly sweet as the name suggests. It's perfect. About $20nzd for it. It is pricey but NZ is pricey. That's just how this country operates.
Full selection of lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolate, smoothies. And if you just want to have a cup of coffee and a pastry that's fine too. They've got you covered.
Parking in this area can be rough. If you are lucky enough to find a free spot on the edge of the city square it's only an hour. I like to park at the Countdown market a few blocks away and just walk here. That way you don't feel rushed.
My favorite breakfast north of Christchurch. I come here every few weeks, so if you happen to be in this area come through! read more
