I was just going to buy an oval shaped one from Home Depot. Luckily the size we needed wasn't available. We called several glass/window places in the neighborhood. Swartz Glass was the only business that had an oval shaped mirror available so we went there. My daughter decided she didn't want an oval shape anymore and she peeped a gorgeous antique mirror at Swartz. We asked Mike if it was for sale and he said, "everything's for sale! You can even buy the store!" He took us in the back, where he had several similar antique mirrors. We found one for my daughter's bathroom and Mike quickly cleaned it for us. He also showed us his beautiful cherry red truck, which used to be his father's. I recall, back in the day, seeing the truck around (I grew up in Venice and the shop used to be in SM). Scammers - beware of this company. Your experience may vary but here was mine: I have a large glass patio sliding door that needs repair. I called them to get an estimate. They said "we'll have two guys there at 10:30am to look at it." Great. At 9:55am I get three missed calls while I'm in a meeting, I finally answer and an angry voice (Mike) tells me their guys are downstairs. I tell them we agreed on 10:30am and they're 35 minutes early, but ok I will run home. The survey then goes smoothly. They send me an estimate 48 hours later. But it's just a word doc with a price (an "estimate") and no details on tax, warranty, installation timeline, what affects final price etc. I ask for clarification on all these items and they won't confirm anything in writing. Finally "Mike" calls me and he's angry that I've asked so many questions. The "estimate" is for $3,690, not a small job. But Mike can't be bothered to answer questions about what services Swartz is providing for that amount. It is clear to me that Mike does not intend to honor the estimate and is going to half-ass the job and then demand additional payment. What happens if they do poor work? Well they never provided a warranty in writing, so I'd be out of luck. Don't give these guys your business. read more

I just had a piece of glass cut to fit into my medicine cabinet for the bathroom. A very small piece 11 x 4". I paid $15 for it which already I found expensive. And they did not notice the orginal broken shelf was cut on an angle (which i provided them with) so I had to come back because it didn't fit. They charged me an extra five dollars to make it fit. Had an unexpected patio sliding door glass breakage, don't have a clue what caused it. Called and spoke to Mike. he had his guys out that afternoon, to take out the broken glass, and put up temporary pieces. They measured and ordered the new glass. Their price was very good. Today the two men installed the new glass, it was a rough job, as they had to remove the stationary glass door as well. Do to the condo's age it was a real pain, but they are professionals and got the job done right. Both sets or men were very courteous, clean and professional. Would highly recommend this company. Well as it turned out I am very glad I did because they were not rude at all and everything was handled very professionally and the job was done perfectly! I had a mirrored sliding closet door with a crack in it. Made the phone arrangements without any problem and they showed up to remove it just as they said they would. A week later when it was due to be returned, they called early to let me know it would be delayed a day.
