I actually had a room two nights but rented them each night because we didn't plan on being there the second night. The first night i was in the room probably 45 minutes and there was 3 other people there with us so I didn't pay much attention to the room. I went to the bar next door and ended up going back to some of my friends house and never slept in the room or even used the bathroom. My daughter and granddaughter stayed there though so I didn't pay for nothing. After I had checked us in Friday night I had to go to the store and grab somethings we needed and when I pulled back into the parking lot there were 3 cops there! Not sure what was going on. From the bit of information I did get it was caused by someone that causes problems frequently so I understand that to mean he must be one of the people that live there. Then my daughter told me that around 1:00 that morning she could hear screaming and banging on the furniture and walls. She said they were banging so hard and loud on the walls that the full sized bottle of shampoo that we had on the shelf in the shower fell into the bathtub. My car was parked at the bar next door until Saturday afternoon around 4:00 and when i went to get it there was two more cops there again. It was probably about whatever happened the night before but still more cops there. Even after that 2 hours later we decided to get another room for the night - long story why and it doesn't matter this is about the room. We got takeout. My granddaughter had a lot of her dinner left so i put it in the fridge and figured she could have it for lunch the next day before we left. When i grabbed the leftovers for my granddaughter around 11:00 AM just before we were getting ready to leave the entire styrofoam container was full of water that leaked in it all night from the fridge so i had to throw them away and pay for another lunch for her! All of the lights were off and everyone was sleeping but me Saturday night. I went to the bathroom and my feet stuck to the floor! It appeared to be adhesive and filth that caused a thick black line around the edges of all of the linoleum tiles. That is nasty af! Everyones feet that walked in there barefoot are all sticking to the same floor! Gross! I took some hot water on a wash cloth with some shampoo because thats all i had for soap and scrubbed an edge of one of the tiles and i took before and after pics and emailed it to the email on their website so they could see the difference! There was no way that floor was that filthy from us being there for a couple of hours! Then the light switch covers were so disgusting I had to clean them too but i also took before and after pics of them too. It took me 30 seconds to clean them. They were so dirty and I Couldn't control myself- I had to clean them. If I had stuff to actually clean with there I would have scrubbed the whole bathroom. The telephone was also really dirty. I am glad I didn't have to use it. I honestly wasn't going to even give them a bad review even after all of that but apparently their customer service is lacking just as much as their housekeeping skills are so I thought I would warn everyone what they are in for if you are staying there! I already knew going in there is wasn't a 5-star hotel but I expect that my feet wont stick to the bathroom floor! The rate should have been a lot cheaper for that dump!

Great Trip Review of Henry's Cottages…read moreI stayed here the last week of August into September, The place was very clean and the Hosts Bob and Gwen were very nice and helpful. We stayed in a 3 bedroom even though we needed a 2 bedroom, Gwen only charged us for the 2 bedroom since that is what we had requested, and only a 3 was available. It is a cabin not a hotel so if you want a tv, microwave, fan ect.. bring it. But it was clean and all utensils and dishes cups coffee maker were all available along with wi-fi which was surprising. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. We also rented a boat which was great, The hosts are always asking if all is well and are quick to fix any problems that occur. There is the smell of sulfur when you use the hot water but you get beyond that, its more your mind playing with you ,the water is fine aside from the smell and if you only use the cold you wont smell it at all. I will definitely return to this place and recommend it to all my friends, When I spoke to Bob he said His Granddaughter and her future husband would be running the place soon, hope they don't change much.

Just fantastic! But…read morewhat a loose, relaxed operation this is. I arrived to discover that they don't really have an office. They have a semi enclosed desk next to the manager's apartment. I bang on the door a couple times and a woman who I called half an hour ago answered in her extra short, little robe. It's freezing outside so the only reasonable place where I can fill out paperwork is in her apartment, So she invites me in. At this point I was looking around for cameras because it was starting to feel like the beginning of an goofy 80's movie. Attractive women do NOT answer their doors in slinky robes and invite ME inside!! I told the gal how strange I thought this was but it seemed pretty normal here. I put a name, an address and a phone number on a piece of paper, she doesn't even bother to ask for my ID. I pay $50 cash and she hands me the key. She shows me to my room, shows me the basement and the sauna and wishes me a good night. Says I'm welcome to look around and explore. I'm traveling alone but she put me in a room that could easily hold 5. Half the rooms have open doors. I wander up to the second floor and see that most of the doors are open up there too. The front door isn't locked, I could have walked in, found a room I liked, locked the door and called it a night. She would never have known. I'm convinced that carfulls of penniless ski bums do that all the time. Arrive at 11:00 or midnight. Tiptoe up to the second floor and crash for the night. Take a shower and get up and out early and the only person that might ever realize it would be the housekeeper. Crazy. The restrooms and showers are dorm style, down the hall. I couldn't get any wifi and there was no info about wifi in the room. Maybe they don't have it. Strangely, there also weren't any heater controls in the room but it stayed comfortably warm anyhow. The sauna works great. Don't think they serve food anymore. It was a fun, odd, loosey goosey place to stay for a business traveler.

The location was great, and the house itself is beautifully restored. The rooms are quite large and the beds are very comfy. The breakfasts were very good, as well as the dinners which we had arranged separately (not included by default but as the facility does large events, they can provide dinners if you plan in advance). The bedrooms do not all have bathrooms: depending on the room(s) booked, you may have a bathroom connecting to another bedroom, or accessed from a hallway; we were lucky enough to book the one room that had an en-suite bathroom all to itself. Since the rest of the group we were travelling with booked all the other rooms, the shared bathrooms were not an issue, though I could see not wanting to share a connected bath with strangers (I'd have less of a problem sharing the hallway bath). The location is just a couple of blocks from several restaurants and about a half mile from a grocery store. It's not too far from a number of local sights including a fantastic sculpture garden. It's a short drive from several border crossings if you plan to visit some of the southern Quebec towns. The living room / parlor / entryway and the covered front porch were nice places to hang out with our friends. We were allowed to have our own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages there (alcoholic drinks had to be purchased from the owner, due to licensing rules). The rooms do not have TVs or in-room phones - this being a B&B versus a chain hotel, I did not expect them to. The disadvantages, such as they are, are quite minor. The house fronts onto the town's Main Street, which gets a fair bit of traffic. This means that when relaxing on the porch, our conversation occasionally got drowned out. We could also hear the noise from our room, which overlooked the porch. It wasn't a problem at night - either the traffic died down, or the bed was too comfortable and we fell asleep too fast! If mobility is an issue: there are several steps to get up to the front door, and all the bedrooms are on the second floor; there is no wheelchair access to the second floor.

Our family had all the rooms booked in the house, we bought some bottles of wine and cheese and all hung out together in the living room. Apparently we were not supposed to do that. The owner was very rude. B&B always have a common room for socializing. We cleaned up after ourselves. We were not loud. Everyone was in bed by 11:30. It was ridiculous. The first time my step mom met the owner, she walked into the home around 8pm and the owner looked at her and said "who are you, this is my house?" My step mom, shaken... answered "I am a guest. I have been here since Friday" The owner said "Well, I realize that!" Just really rude. A few days before we arrived I called and spoke to the owner and asked if there was room for an air mattress on the floor in our room because our two teens were coming. She said that 2 of the rooms had room for an air mattress. The night before we left she charged me $75.00 a night for my son. He slept in the TV room. No bedroom, no bedding. I guess we shouldn't have let him sleep in there, but when we had the entire house booked with our family we figured it was ok. I gave him a blanket and pillow from our truck. Then after I found out that my Aunt had paid her $15.00 a night for a cot for one of my kids. We never used a cot. The owner told me that the room we booked was just for the two adults. I asked her about when I called a few days before arrival about my two teens, she didn't say anything. We spent $75.00 a night for our room. We had a bed, bath, bedding. To charge $75.00 a night for my kid is ridiculous! She also said we booked the rooms, not the house. We shouldn't be in the livingroom. So the final night 8 of us crowded into my cousins room and ate McDonalds and hung out together. Crazy. My cousin had called ahead to make sure the house had wifi and a tv available to watch the Jays games. The owner told him yes. One night we got home to the house just before the baseball game started and my dad walked into the TV room to put on the game. There was an elderly lady in there. the owner said "that's my Mom. When she is here that is her room." Then she should have more than one TV! The owner was just not nice. Not friendly. Rude and mean. You don't treat people like that. Not your guests! The first night we all LOVED the place. We were planning on booking the entire house again next year for our cousins wedding. But not now. We won't go back. It's too bad because the house was conveniently located. Clean and comfy. We won't be giving her anymore money.

I spent the most relaxing week here on Lake Champlain in cottage #1 with my daughters and my dad…read more It's cozy and had two bedrooms but sleeps 8! It has a full kitchen, pots, pans, coffee machine, anything you could need and a there's a boat ramp too! There's AC but it's really not needed, even in the summer as it's so cool here on the islands of Vermont. No tv and very little reception, but it was not missed AT ALL as we spent our days outside reading on the hammock, fishing right from the dock there, boating, playing games and drinking around the campfire. This is a wonderful place to just escape it all and relax! Right outside you'll find Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, a hammock, a grill and 2 fire pits, one complete with a grate which we used for making campfire potatoes and hotdog grilling late night! So fun! The boat ramp is gravel, so a 4x4 is preferred although it is not necessary. The water is shallow at the start so wading and swimming for even little kiddos was easy and safe. The fishing was great.... small mouth bass, yellow perch and pike. The kiddos caught something the second they casted! It's a great place for the more impatient, novice fisherman. The hosts were very sweet and accommodating. They hand delivered worms to us for fishing when the local "worm guy" was out on his boat for the day. They even brought us firewood and let us use their sit in kayaks, which my girls had a blast on! They were super helpful! They were available as needed as they live at the end of the property, but not at all in our way. There's a campground for trailers on the other side of the dock and on our side, 3 houses for rent. We peeked into cabin #2 and fell in love! I would definitely come back and rent it with just my family of four. It's rustic with wooden interiors and was so cozy! Very different aesthetically from the cottage but both serve a purpose for different needs and sized families. That cabin however only has a small fridge but still a full sized kitchen. My dad has been renting here for years and always has a wonderful time. As many times as I've been to Vermont, I have never traveled these parts, and I'm happy finally to see what I've been missing, what he's been boasting about and what I now long for when I think of a getaway! I look forward to many more visits this cottage and would recommend it for anyone looking for a sweet retreat, especially boat owners! There's no additional cleaning fee, trash is collected by owners at the end of the week and the cost is very reasonable. The entire area was absolutely lovely also. There's a general store down in the center of town that has everything you need, including gas, fresh baked goods, and that Green Mountain coffee. It's there you'll find local activities on the bulletin board as well as any periodical you may want to read. There's farms nearby and lots of places for outdoor activities.There's wineries, too. It's quiet and peaceful and the loveliest little island to just relax It's very close to the Canadian Border, easily accessibly from anywhere in New England and the Adirondacks as it's just a short trip over the Plattsburgh ferry, which if coming from the south saves you quite a bit of time! Day trips to Burlington and Stowe were also very easy from this location! A stay here was one of my favorite weeks of the summer and I look forward to it again! All of the sites are charming in their own right and the access to the lake is wonderful, providing a truly stunning view and wonderful place to cool off. The owners take great pride in the property that they have curated, and it is evident in every inch of the campsite. The facilities are cleaned daily, firewood is available, and the owners are a wealth of local knowledge and insight. this is by far the best campsite we have ever stayed at, the tone set by the owners really does attract a certain level of campers that are respectful and pleasant, there was no loud music, late nights or bright lights blazing through the night. This is an absolutely perfect place to decompress and enjoy the scenery. We cannot wait to come back!
