Today was my first visit to Swank Hair Studio in Little Rock, AR and I'll admit I was a little nervous--you never know what you'll get when trying a new salon. I chose Swank because it's a faith-based business, and I loved that their website shared not only their values but also the stylists' bios and photos. Everyone looked like they genuinely enjoyed working together, which gave me confidence. I booked with Avery, and I couldn't have made a better choice! I hadn't had a haircut since Covid, so my hair was long, fine, thin, and very straggly. Avery greeted me warmly and helped me get settled (I'm currently in a wheelchair, and the salon was very easy to access and navigate). She listened carefully as I explained my concerns about my hair being thin and falling out despite supplements and oils. She shared her own experience with hair loss after Covid and recommended a product that helped her. Seeing her gorgeous, healthy hair gave me hope! We also discussed shampoos for frizz and fullness, and she suggested one she personally uses. She cut my hair and it was absolutely FANTASTIC. My hair feels lighter, fuller and looks great. I couldn't be more pleased. On top of that, I learned she also does wedding hair and makeup--which is perfect, since she'll now be doing mine next year! The atmosphere at the salon was welcoming--Courtney even chatted with me when I arrived and while I checked out, which was a sweet touch. I just realized that I got my hair cut by Liz not Kat. I was confused at first. Swank is a great place! The atmosphere is surprisingly very welcoming. I thought it was for people on the richer side, but I felt really comfortable and valued sitting in that chair. Liz was so sweet and made me feel so at ease. My first visit to this salon was with Avery. She is an amazingly talented stylist and excellent communicator! I have long, thicker, wavier hair and wanted long layers, face framing, and a good trim. She tailored the shampoos and conditioner to address my scalp concerns. My scalp loved whatever she did! Her wet trim was thorough. She patiently blew out my hair with a round brush and cut in the perfect layers, long bangs, and face-framing. Possibly the best my hair has ever looked!! So grateful to have found Avery! The salon is also very clean with a warm, friendly atmosphere. I got in with an appointment quickly and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend. read more

It all started with a huge chop, and I've been trusting her with my hair ever since. Even though I went to school in Boston and am now living in Texas, I still only schedule hair appointments when I know I'll be in town. It can be hard to find a good stylist who knows their way around Asian hair in Little Rock and darker hair in general, but I cannot recommend Lindsey more for anyone. She listens, adjusts, and really just wants to make the customer happy. That being said, she's also honest! Which I love. I've had her talk me out of many decisions I thought would be fun but she knew would be costly and difficult for me to achieve and maintain, and let me tell you, I could not be more grateful. She knows I'm a student and I'm not local, so she always helps do my hair in a way that will keep nicely for months at a time, and that is low maintenance enough for me to deal with in my day-to-day. I've been going to her enough for her to know how I like it styled too, and I'm continuously impressed at her willingness to help educate and teach her clients how to achieve the same look. I'd follow her anywhere!! Swank is also a great place because the front desk ladies are incredibly sweet and knowledgeable, and I love that they have mobile reminders and confirmations. I first went in to ask about getting on the rose gold hair trend. Rachael was totally up front with me about it not being the best idea I had. The next week, I made my first appointment and I haven't looked back. They are always willing to do the best they can to fit your schedule. All of the stylists know their stuff and get really excited about going to classes to learn even more new things. Rachael has given my hair a new lease on life. I have been coming to SWaNK for several years now. I always leave feeling like a million bucks, and my hair has been healthier than ever since taking my stylist's recommendations on products. Rachael is a sweetheart with talent and skill to match. She took me from dark brown box color all over to bright blonde, and left me with healthier hair in the process. She explained at our initial consultation what the process would look like, and over the course of MANY months, I was left with the hair of my dreams. The salon still has its staple good things--lots of openings, good hours, free water, nice ambiance, and a great automated reminder system. But, Jenna has left, and now, my two friends and I who go there have rotated around the other stylists and found that some of them do not cut or color well. Jamie is good for men's cuts. Don't know a good colorist there anymore. Last time, I got 6 (six) products pushed on me, which I don't appreciate. What I do appreciate is a recommendation that is actually used by the stylist, impactful, and likely to fit into my personalized hair care regimen. read more

I love Allie shes the best at swank. But while she was on maternity leave I used another stylist that fried my hair. Luckily Allie is back and we are doing weekly protein treatments to help my damaged hair and no heat for a few weeks. Total heartbreak. read more

My granddaughter went to Swank about two weeks ago for hair color and thinning because she had very long, thick curly hair and wanted a change. She walked out a disaster as her hair was over-processed, completely fried, and now she's embarrassed. She no longer has long, thick, curly hair. She has short, frizzy unmanageable hair. Biggest hair mistake ever was trusting Swank with my hair color needs. I wanted a naturally auburn red hair melt from medium auburn to light auburn that blended with my natural hair color. 1st attempt resulted in orangy yellow streaks and hot roots (5 hours and over $300 later). They said they would happily fix the color for free if I wasn't happy. Ok. Seems reasonable and fixable. I came back thinking I was going to get a simple light auburn glaze to correct the color, but, 3 hours later, the stylist had turned my hair so dark that it looks nearly black. No red, no light auburn, just very very dark brown. On top of that, they attempted to charge me again for a whole new hair color service. I notified them that I was still not happy with the color as it was obviously nothing like what I had asked for. Their reply was basically, sorry for your bad experience, we did our best twice to try and give you the color you wanted but it seems we are unable to make you happy. Seriously? This is their best?!? I will now have to find someone else who can fix all of the damage they did to my hair. My experience feels like an absolute nightmare. I will be avoiding this salon and their stylist from now on, and I suggest you do the same, especially if you are wanting color and want healthy hair. The only positive was stylist Sarah did a great job on my hair the first time I got color here, but while she has been out on maternity leave, my hair nightmare began. Learn from my expensive mistake and just stay away. As a business, they don't care if you leave happy as long as they get your money. Complete nightmare. read more

I've been here a couple times and Jessica took care of me. Sometimes it's nice and I feel welcomed but other times I just felt like I was rushed through the whole process. Normally, when I go get my hair done elsewhere I expect it to look good and have something done that I cannot do myself so at least when I get my hair done, I have amazing hair for that one day. The last time Jessica did my hair she wanted to use a "diffuser" and that basically meant scrunching my hair and blow drying it a little. I mean, that's what I do when I'm in a rush and don't have time for a haircut. I was very disappointed and didn't expect that from her. I felt like she could put more effort and some days she just seems like she doesn't want to be there. Maybe that's just me feeling the vibes wrong, but that's how I feel. I hope they have good business and find other people to do hair. I've seen other people leave with gorgeous hair so maybe I just chose the wrong stylist. read more

I am still enduring the consequences of visiting this salon. I went in to cover my (barely there) few strands of grey for the first time - color was mismatched and was given a reddish brown color to go with my deep brown hair (which she hid with a gloss). To my dismay, she had used permanent dye as it still hasn't washed out almost a year later (but the gloss sure has) - I now have a strip of red in the middle of my head as it is growing out slowly but surely. I'm from NYC and made the mistake of visiting this salon when I was here for a few months - went back to my salon (Warren Tricomi at the plaza hotel) and they weren't even able to fix her mistakes (you don't use permanent dye for a few strands of grey! Especially when it's the wrong color!). Plus - she literally held a color wheel to my head to match my hair color - that alone should've been a red flag. Am annoyed everyday when I style my hair and see this red strip. Worst salon EVER!!!!!!! And to think I paid for this! read more

I cannot recommend this salon because the prices are too high and some are very disrespectful. They did not tell me the prices when I called to make an appointment, although I asked for them. I expected the prices to be normal. I have been getting my hair colored and cut for 30 years in Little Rock. They charged me $202 for a haircut, color, 7 highlights, and eye brow color. I have never paid over about $150. My hair was not styled which normally comes with my cut, I support people who are confident in their capabilities, but to be so cocky about prices and disrespectful to the customer turns people away. I never got an explanation from anyone on why the charge was so high. I paid $142 for color and highlights, and then $15 to color eye brows with the same color as the roots. Beware of the extra charges, that they don't tell you about. They will arrogantly blame the customer for not asking. I did ask when I made the appointment and was not told of these abnormal and high prices. No need to tolerate this with upscale salons in WLR who treat people right and don't charge near this much. read more
