My personal opinion is that the women's shoes are somewhat matronly here, unless you're looking for running shoes/sneakers. Men's shoes also tend to the older demographic again, unless you are looking for sneakers. My husband has a wide foot, so if he buys his regular size the shoe is too narrow and if he sizes up to fit the width, the length is too long. Hence, it's difficult for him to find shoes. Well, he found some sneakers at Tootsies easily. Their prices weren't super duper, but my husband is not a browser like I am, he's a buyer, he enters a store with a purpose, if it fits, he likes it and the price is not totally unreasonable, the store makes the sale, lol. Staff were nice. The store is in the Stafford Shopping Centre. Lots of free parking in the plaza. I would recommend this store for sneakers in hard to find sizes. So The Shoe Company is a big shoe store, a little bit like DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, except maybe with less designer brands. They have a colour coded system where different coloured stickers mean you get different additional percentages off. I usually look for orange stickers which is 50% off and red which is 70% off. They have what I would consider regular mainstream shoe styles. They don't carry anything too "out there" or avant garde. I love shoes, or more accurately, I love boots and sandals, but not those weird boot-sandal hybrids like knee high boots with open toes, what is up with that? Just my personal style opinion, no offense to boot-sandal hybrid lovers, you are probably just too cool for me. Where was I going with this? Oh yes, I love footwear, so I browse around at The Shoe Company a lot, lol. This particular location is in a strip mall, so there's lots of free parking. It's in the same strip mall as Factory Direct, Ardene, Winners, Laura, Value Village and Dollarama. Also Sushi 168 and World Burger, in the event that shopping for shoes makes you hungry.

Because of the pandemic, I thought I would have a very difficult time doing an exchange at the store. I was greeted by a very friendly staff upon entry and was so refreshing to deal with Neisha. Neisha was the most pleasant person and say easy going. In most cases, returning or exchange and any other store is not always dealt in a positive manner. Not the case at Journeys. I will be going back for my next purchase, they have a great selection of merchandise but mostly because of my experience. Neisha deserves a raise.

Regular prices are $100+ but much cheaper when on sale. Some items are real leather, and some are cheapy faux-leather. Styles range from orthopedic frumpy to mildly stylish comfort (think Naturalizer, Ecco, Rockport, etc.) No Jessica Simpson, Guess, or Le Chateau style shoes here. I was looking for a pair of comfortable, warm, black leather wedge heeled boots that I could wear with dresses (and look fashionable) but still be able to walk in the snow without slipping. This was a difficult search but I found them at Shumaker! They even had them in my bordering on freakishly small size of 5! And they were on sale (for $104 instead of $160)! Salespeople were super nice and friendly. I had never heard of this store before they opened at Carlingwood Mall about a year ago or so, but now they have another location at Place d'Orleans too.
