This location is near and dear to my heart, because it is located on Tower Road and in a close proximity to Gainesville's best schools and many families of various nationalities that use the library space in an amazing way, as a community center for learning. Tower Branch Library is also very unique because of the free language exchange program they offer. At the time, I was able to volunteer as an English language tutor to a wonderful group of Korean and Mandarin speaking adults. Along the way, making many lifetime friends and acquaintances. Also, learning some Korean in the process. As you can see, I HIGHLY recommend their language exchange program at this location. It is a rare find. Many people that I have talked to say that public libraries are a daycare center for the homeless, aging, and children. At this location, that is very far from the truth. This is the best community based, learning environment library that I have been to. The management and librarians at this location are so down-to-earth, kind, and organized. I was blown away by their professionalism throughout the year that I volunteered there. The Alachua County Library district is funded in many ways, but I do notice the public library fee on my family's monthly escrow property payment. It is not that much per month and is totally worth it.

I had my first experience spending time at length in jail at the Suwanee County Jail. I did not…read morerealize how poorly people were being treated in jail. Many of the guards are repugnant. There is black mold covering many of the walls, The water is too hot or too cold, the food is edible but not healthy, it seemed like most of the meat wasn't real, there aren't options for vegetarian, gluten free, or kosher meals, the constant farts at night with no air ventilation in the dorms was disgusting, no Holy books other than the bible were allowed, a man wasn't allowed to practice his Muslim daily prayers in his dorm, originally inmates only got one mat to sleep on which I experienced because they refused to give me a second one for a week but once I got one it was still terrible and I now have lower spinal inflammation that is making it difficult to stand for long periods of time, the law library was not available to the inmates unless they were representing themselves, the reading library was terrible, the food portions were so small that if you didn't get commissary you'd start losing weight, the drinking water tasted disgusting, the food trays had crusted black mold in the scratch marks at the bottom of the sections, I had heard that the cups were dipped in sanitizer to clean them and not scrubbed, the dish washing machine had been broken for weeks, the air conditioning was way too low all the time, the air filters in the ceilings look as if they'd never been cleaned, inmates got 1 hour of recreation outside a week, they sand blasted the windows so you couldn't see out any more, I met one fellow being held illegally without bond, I met another who had double jeopardy committed on him. The phone system needed to be changed too, these days one can get an unlimited long distance phone line for $20 a month, inmates shouldn't have to pay $25 for 4, 15 minute long distance calls. More phones need to be installed and people should be entitled to a few decent length free calls a day. The phones were never sanitized. Apparently these were country club conditions compared to other jails. Our inmates need to be cared for not held, many were in on non violent charges. A wider variety of philosophy books could assist in the development of the people.

I absolutely love this library!!! Every Thursday at 10:30 AM they have baby time. They sing nursery…read morerhymes to the children and the babies really love it. I have so much fun with my son here. Being a stay at home mom, it can be hard to find activities to take your child to and even just getting out the house is a mission. I'm so grateful for this awesome community event. I hope many others can benefit from taking their children to this library. It is full of life, love, and literature. All for free. This is what makes a country great. The concept most people know about, and…read morethey carry so many different varieties of media and offerings that we already pay for that it's truly a shame that we don't take more advantage, myself included. The folks in this facility are always so incredibly pleasant and very very helpful . They are of course part of the larger Alachua county Netwerk, so you can get virtually anything you can imagine and they do it quickly. The facility has decent hours, it's always clean, and the service is usually pretty darn good.
