The bartender spoke scarily good English. I reckon if I'd spoken to them any longer I'd have soon realised they were completely fluent. Well, I was going to say that it was just another Dusseldorf Bar, but since I have been forced to think about this place my memory has come back and I realised that it is actually a pretty divey bar. Not that that is a bad thing because not all dive bars are actually bad bars, but they certainly don't jump out and grab my attention either. The bar itself is rather small, and due to the rain I found myself squashed up the back with a beer. It wasn't bad, but not hugely flash either.

Service is efficient and you will not go thirsty as the beer flows freely. Our group shared a cold appetizer platter which had various meats spreads cheeses and breads and it was a very generous portion even for three people. We're all very happy with our means which included the leverkãse, the rump steak, and I had the sauerbraten. Portions are extremely generous and the quality of the mains and the sides were all superb. The sauerbraten was tender and was easy to cut with a fork. The potato dumplings were a perfect foil for the tangy sauce but my favorite part was the red cabbage which was extraordinary. The Rhine region alt-bier was also very good and as I said they continue to bring a new ones until you surrender by placing your coaster on top of your small glass. The small glasses are also an excellent idea as it always is cold and fresh right from the barrel. A strong recommendation if you're in Dusseldorf and want a traditional German beer hall experience. When you go to a brewery you need to order their specialty, which we did. We had a great time; everything was delicious: and we left completely satisfied. By the way, the Eisbein is enough for two people, and that's no joke.
