I've had two experiences with Greater Waterbury Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and both were excellent. The first experience involved my 20 year old daughter. I brought her here for a consultation, on the recommendation of her primary care dentist, after he recommended that she should have her wisdom teeth removed. While Dr. Hillgen concurred, he also understood our concerns about timing, relative to her college schedule, and we did not actually have the procedure done until one year later. He and his staff were caring and competent throughout. My daughter had all four wisdom teeth removed without complications. More recently (March 2019), I saw Dr. Hillgen for evaluation of a tooth that the endodontists at UConn had told me was not salvageable, and recommended for removal. However, they would not have been able to do the work for another three months. I had a long history with this tooth, which was chronically infected. Dr. Hillgen saw me in the late afternoon. When I told him that I had reached a tipping point and was beyond ready to have it taken out, he and his staff stayed late, beyond their normal closing hours, to extract it that same day. My experience with Dr. Hillgen and every single staff member was that they were caring and professional. The office staff worked with me to get me in quickly, calling me when someone else's cancellation opened up a spot. I was able to email my x-rays to the Office Manager, who made sure that everyone who needed to see them had seen them even before they saw me. A wonderful staff member held my head and stroked my forehead while Dr. Hillgen and an assistant operated to remove the problem tooth. As to finances, the cost of removing this tooth was actually comparable to what the UConn Clinic would have charged, and I was able to pay for it in two installments. The office staff was sensitive to my finances. I did not ask for a price reduction, but they volunteered that I could pay for it in two installments. I would recommend this group without any reservations.

My dentist referred me to one Dr who would not be able to see me until May of 2026. I then called Dr. E.M. Ferneini at the Cheshire office and was given an appointment three days later. I saw the Dr after a short wait who is very personable and friendly. He took a look into my mouth and decided that a biopsy would be needed and performed it that same day about an hr later! I was so thrilled that I did not have to wait months for this to happen! He is a very professional and caring doctor and find myself grateful. Mark D.

I was in pain and nervous, but the staff and Dr. Ferneini were amazing. They took me through each step of the removal telling me what was going to happen and what to expect. I could not believe in a short period of time it was taken care of. I was sent home with specific instructions and told to call if I had any issues. I cannot relay the amount of relief I had. When I needed oral surgery recently for another issue, I did not hesitate in calling Dr. Ferneini and once again I was treated with the same care and kindness. Just a heads up that Dr. Kiran Pervez did not give my daughter enough anesthesia (nor did she wait…read morefor it to fully numb her before starting) for what turned out to be a complicated tooth extraction. My daughter was shaking and crying - and rather than offering more pain meds or nitrous oxide - she had the nurse hold my daughter's legs. In the end, she was not able to extract the tooth and had to get another doctor in to do it. That doctor gave my daughter additional anesthesia which, not shockingly, made the procedure a lot easier. We would go back and see the male doctor again, but not Dr. Pervez. At the very end she had the audacity to tell my daughter that she should've asked for gas. (My daughter didn't realize it was an option.) In addition, BOTH sides of my daughter's mouth are bruised and swollen excessively and while I understand that there would be swelling at the site - I can't help but wonder if it would be a little better had the doctor numbed my daughter appropriately. I want to make sure other anxious patients avoid this doctor and definitely don't go to her if you know you have a complicated extraction. It was a nightmare scenario.

Almost 2 years ago, I went to sunrise family dental center for a set of dentures they had me sign…read moreup for Sunbit and told me that would cover everything. I have been paying now since November 2023 and I'm on my last payment today. After all this time I receive a bill from Sunrise telling me I owe $522 they could not tell me why two years later they are sending me a bill and said sunbit was only for my co-pay and that they billed my insurance for the rest and that my insurance denied the claim. Still could not explain why almost 2 years later they're sending me a bill. They also never said that I was only applying for the co-pay to be done. These people are scam artists and will try to double talk so that it looks like you are the one at fault.
