For the past 12 years we've provided those living and working in downtown with the convenience items they need to get through the day without having to travel far. With our move to Wall Street we have begun expanding our fresh food and grab-and-go items to better serve the heart of downtown, as we've seen the options for these types of goods is becoming more and more limited!

They have a…read moresmall selection of Japanese snacks (a nod to big brother Ben's Tune-Up next door), and a good number of local beers, which are available for individual purchase. They also now have TVs, which makes the Penny Mart a nice quiet location to catch a game. They have recently added Foothills Meats, as the other reviewer noted, which really completes the experience for me--people-watching at their streetside bar while enjoying a meaty sandwich is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon.

I've had the sh*t on a shingle special too, good old fashioned comfort food. If you're downtown near the south slope and want a quick bite, it's definitely worth checking out. The layout is…read moresuper neat: food and drink options are right up front, a bar sits in the middle, and there's a fantastic gift shop filled with unique items in the back. I sat at the bar, and the staff was incredibly welcoming and wonderful. They had fantastic live music from a local acoustic guitar player whose selection was absolutely perfect for relaxing with a drink. They feature a full bar, an extensive beer selection, and a few frozen cocktails. They even had a special margarita menu during my visit! I highly recommend checking out their frozen drinks, the pickle martini (or the shot version), and the French 75.

They have a…read moredaily special where you can purchase a full sub for only $8 and change so of course that's what I got. I wanted wheat bread but they were out so I went with the regular white. No biggie. With that I got a tuna sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers and salt and pepper. Delicious and the sandwich was HUGE. MUCH better than Subway. I have to point out; when I get a sandwich I usually get green peppers but they had mixed colors for their peppers. I made a comment of how I only get the green ones but that the mixed is fine; the guy grabs a handful and this sweet man picks out just the green peppers for my sandwich. He didn't have to do that and I was so very thankful. Huge plus for just that. Shows he actually cares and I love that! Wish I got his name. But sir, if you see this, THANK YOU!! You made my day with that small gesture. I walked around the store and stumbled upon the Snyders pretzel pieces and they were on sale 2/$5. I hadn't had those in forever so of course I bought two bags. The sour cream and caramelized onion flavor.....SO GOOD!!!!!! Will 100% go back if I'm ever in the area. I need to try more subs!

This place makes me feel like a kid. It's the exact kind of convenience store I remember going to on long road trips with my parents. Fluorescent lights, linoleum tile, big league chew, and an aroma cigarette smoke, faint.. but ever present, engrained into the very structure of the building. The gas pumps are mainly just for show. This may also be one of the only convenience stores that doesn't carry an ultra selection of high abv local craft brews in 22 oz bottles. They have a couple of six packs for Highland, but it would seem as though the beer distributors haven't found or tend to avoid this spot. One truly unique item they carry here is Budweiser in 8oz cans. Also available are a wide array of gold chains and medallions, gilligan hats with phrases such as "Keep it 100" and "YOLO", and a surprisingly large selection of incense. The owners are highly pleasant people. A wonderful couple. Very sweet, excited to have you in their store.
