We happened to be in Lakeport for a weekend, enjoying the beautiful scenery when one of us had an accident. We were in the ER waiting for a little more than a hour, which isn't too bad given that I sometimes wait for my regular doctor for ~30 minutes with an appointment. Everyone was extremely sympathetic, friendly and knowledgable! An example of friendliness - While I was waiting, I got cold and a nurse brought over a blanket that had been HEATED. He said he was there to serve. When does a hospital staff member ever say that?? We joked that if we ever have an accident, we should drive all the way to Lakeport. Great experience! read more

You should try to avoid this hospital if possible. I was at the hospital with my mom because she was sick. She wanted to be discharged but the wanted her to stay. We asked for him to discharge her. Like a hour or more later we asked if she was getting discharged. Turned out the doctor discharged her like a hour ago. We asked what might happen if she gets discharged. And what he said. I was in the ICU for five days. All of the staff from the nurses and doctors to the RT staff the CNA's and everyone in between were absolutely wonderful. It took a while for them to figure out what was wrong with me, but as soon as they did it was aggressively treated and I'm here to talk about it. Thanks to all for the amazing care. read more

Today July 17, 2017 we got into our car to leave when our car wouldn't start. A Sutter employee pulled into the parking lot we asked her if she would give us a jump. Altho she was in a hurry she returned to her car and tried but it didn't work. We thanked her and she left. A few minutes later a gentleman came out with a jump starter and tried to start our car. That didn't work so he got his car and jumped our battery. The nice lady returned to check on us. I thanked her again and asked her name. She is Allison Aplet. I'm so pissed off at the Lakeport Sutter Lake Hospital in Lakeport. My mom was really sick this morning that I couldn't get her up to take her to the ER so I called an ambulance for her. She was having horrible pain in her left ear. It was more of a fast thumping in her ear, and it was causing her horrible pain. The ER gave her strong pain management and it didnt work. The did a EKG and found nothing. So after all that the Dr said they couldn't do nothing for her and she was being release. The hospital released my mom In horrible pain. And said they weren't going to give her nothing else and there was nothing else they could do for her. So my daughter and I took her to the ER in Ukiah gave her IV and medicine and her pain went away. She is at home resting and I'm at the pharmacy picking up her pain management prescription. I'm putting this on Facebook for all of you that use Sutter in Lakeport know what happened today with my mom. read more

I have used the services here a few times. I used the emergency room twice. This is a very impressive hospital with immaculate grounds and the latest equipment. I have no doubt that at least some of the staff here are University educated. Second-chance medical schools in Grenada and elsewhere will never refuse the money. I say this not only because of the incompetence I documented but also because of the overall brutal tone of this institution. This hospital is a blight on the community. No doubt a few elite patients receive equitable treatment but in general, all are treated with resentment and disdain. People are so often humiliated and abused here. If I could give a 0 I would. I have worked in the health care industry for 12 years. I have been in the hospital and know my way around the medical community. My father's death was a tragedy of the failing health care system, covid (though he didn't have it) and the lack of compassion from this hospital. If one Dr. or nurse had thought to take my father seriously when he went to your ER he might have been alive today, and positively would not have died in such a painful and awful manner. Had one of your staff taken his complaint of intense stomach pain seriously and run some blood test you would have found his blood test odd, and done more testing. If one of you had looked at him and "humored" his calls for something to be done about his excruciating pain and taken images you would have seen his lungs dotted with tumors or his intestine growing new cancer....if any one of you had taken him seriously and had not told him "there's nothing we can do for you" and told him to go home, you would have found his small cell lung cancer, re-occurrence of colon cancer, and the infection in his stomach, which ultimately lead him to his early demise. Your hospital and staff failed my father and our family. Now I am sure, like most people you will be thinking that "he would have died no matter what." That is true, my father would not have survived with his diagnosis, but his end of life would have been much better. He would have been able to eat more, and eat pain free (he loved my mom's cooking). He would have tolerated radiation therapy better since he would have been healthier. He would have survived just a bit longer so that he, and his family could come to terms with his diagnosis. He would have died comfortable, not confused, starving, and in pain. I would like to note that the ER of Sutter is not the only failure in my father's care. The doctors that he saw for radiation and cancer also failed my father. Not one person, until he went to the ER at Adventist hospital in Clear Lake, thought to find out why my father couldn't eat and why he had pain whenever he did, despite his mentioning this every Dr visit. Sutter ER failed to even take care of my father, and the Sutter doctor's and nurses he saw after failed to listen and investigate the details of his condition. If you think there is something wrong with you think hard before you go to Suttter for anything because even after my father had complained of stomach issues with a history of stage 4 colon cancer he was disregard and turned away. He wasn't able to get into his normal Dr for months due to covid, and by then it was too late. read more

ER Dept. Lakeport Clean it up a little... Discharged my mother after she had a seizure due to a UTI. Before admitting her. Also discharged my stepfather after having a stroke before he also had to go back for admission. Some staff's bedside manor is very honorable and great but there are some that need to redefine what job they chose. I'm sure the staff deal with a lot of people of all kinds and have to be very close to watch their selves. Please keep in mind patient's can hear you all speaking at your desks. read more

One of the worst hospitals I have been too in about 20 states. Unbelievably dysfunctional staff that consistently violates patients rights and neglects the standard of care in the ER department. I even brought this up over the phone and in writing to the patient relations staff. Typically this department spanning most hospitals is the one that holds the many other departments accountable for their conduct and behavior in hopes for training. That's the scary part of the last line of defense doesn't value feedback or act on the many issues that run over this hospital then I'm afraid it is too far gone. BEWARE many assistants with zero accredited training will often walk in and attempt to act as licensed medical providers but are nothing more than admin support. Make sure you get a copy of your rights and hold them to NOT violating your rights. MAKE THEM introduce themselves, state their names and positions. DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING. Please don't be like me if you have transportation GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! And please, if your going to respond with a generic response that is generated automatically, save your time . I expressed my concerns in writing and over the phone with no interest in bettering your hospital. How can you operate so egregiously?? Went to the emergency room for kidney stone onset. Previous history of heart issues. With the covid I became severely dehidrated, heavy congestion and coughing. Went to the emergency room. Inefficient check in, brought all my documents for both insurances stint and list of medication. The wait room was half full and several people were obviously very cold. The room temperature was definently in the low 60s. There were older sick people there a few vets. Blankets were requested. 5 times we had to ask before a blanket was given. This is a despicable way to treat older people and veterans. After 3 hours it was to cold to stay anylonger. Never saw a doctor went elsewhere. The triage nurse did not listen, gave us 3 medical falsehoods, 1. Pneumonia is not contagious. 2. 157 over 91 is normal pressure. And 3 dehydration does not reduce your body fluids. Wife is nurse and we verified with the Maeo clinic website. Her statements were dangerous and misleading. I am a world traveler. This was a zero rating, worst ever seen. I have seen field hospitals that were better. read more

My son had been teething, but was still acting like his normal happy, cant get him to stop moving self. Saturday he was super lethargic and you could tell he wasn't feeling well. He had a cough that made him cry. Being out of town I went to the Sutter Lakeside Hospital ER. Dr. Hatfield came in and as soon as I told him he had been teething he determined then and there that was the reason my son wasn't feeling well. He did not listen to anything I had to say and barely examined him. Checked his chest and said he was clear. I had to ask him to check his ears and thank god I asked because he wasn't going to and it turns out he had an ear infection. He did not want to give my son an antibiotic for his ear. Luckily he gave me the prescription "hesitantly" and wrote on the prescription it was a "wait and see prescription", as well as wrote an email to my pediatrician about how he saw things. Good thing I didn't trust him because on Monday when I went in to see his pediatrician (after no improvement) we found out he had pneumonia. I would give zero stars if I could. Oh and to top it off, during my visit a nurse came into the room while he was examining my son and they had a conversation about what to give another patient who was in the ER at the same time as us. Saying I am less than pleased with the overall experience I had here is an understatement. The prior week I had a surgery done in Napa to have a dilaudid pump implanted in me. This surgery was done because of a work injury I had years ago, paid for by work comp. The pump causes me to have crazy headaches and chest pain when the doctor turns the pump up. The pain goes away when it is turned back down. Well the doctor had turned it back up and I was having awful chest pain. I called the doctor and being two hours away from their office, they told me to go to the emergency room. I hate going to emergency rooms so I debated back and forth not going. I called my attorneys who handle the work injury case. I got every last piece of information needed for the emergency room to bill work Comp. After thinking a little while, I decided to go to this emergency room. I arrived at Sutter Lakeside and was taken back into a room. They did the ekg and then I waited for a couple hours until a doctor came in. I spoke to the doctor very briefly and told him I had recently had a surgery and told him the pain I was experiencing. He asked if I wanted pain medication. I told him they would was the last thing I wanted, that is what I was having a reaction from! I have a remote that can inject a shot of dilaudid into me, I hate that thing. I can't stand what this medication is doing to me. He saw that no labs were done so he ordered labs then told me he would be back after he helped a little girl with a broken arm. No problem I thought. I was still waiting for an admissions employee to check me in so I could give them the work comp info. About three or four hours later someone came in and attempted to get my info. She seemed confused on how to input the information. A guy then came in and said he would take over. She said thank you as she wasn't good with work comp. the guy then attempted to input my information. He had all the info written down on a piece of paper I had given him. I was thinking I was getting somewhere when I heard alarms going off and someone come over the loud speaker. All the staff went running to a room next to mine, including the guy doing my admission info. I could hear the distinct flatline tone. After all the commotion, I could hear that the person in the room next to me died. This was not very comforting...needless to say the admissions guy came back and attempted to input my info again. This time the fire alarm went off and the admission guy left again. After this commotion, the admissions guy returned and said he would finish inputting my information at his desk. I waited in the cold room with no blanket waiting to hear back from the doctor. Understandably he was probably busy. The doctor never came back. I waited 9 hours in the cold room. I watched my deceased room neighbor get wheeled passed my room. Finally after 9 hours, I asked the nurse if I could leave. If I was going to be miserable and uncomfortable, I might as well be at home where it was warmer and a bit more comfortable. My head was still feeling like it was getting squished and had the worst pain I've ever felt in my upper left chest into my shoulder and arm. This pain went away the next day after the pump was turned down a significant amount. The doctor that never came back, discharged me with "heartburn" and prescribed heartburn medication, which I didn't fill because that diagnosis was the biggest bs I've ever heard. If he thought it was heartburn, I think maybe a tums during my 9 hour stay would have fixed that. Two weeks after my awful visit to this emergency room, I opened my mail box and found a bill from them and a bill from the doctor for a total of $4k. I called the billing office and they told me that the work comp info wasn't given to the hospital. Then she told me she did see the info but not all of it and I'd have to give her the info again because the hospital took it upon themselves to decide it wasn't work comp related. I'd have given her the info but the guy who was "admitting" me to the hospital took the paper and who knows what he did with it, something other than what was supposed to be done. I have insurance as well, which was never asked for and is irrelevant because it's work related. Thank you Sutter for causing a financial mess and for zero help and comfort on a day that I was feeling terrible. I'll remember it's just "heartburn" in the future. You would think after 32 years of being alive, someone would know what heart burn feels like! read more

I am specifically reviewing the emergency room at Sutter Lakeside Hospital I've been seen there twice this year 2017. We live ten minutes from Sutter Lakeside Hospital and emergency room and would love to feel safe, but, I am quite frightened to ever go there again. If you have time to drive elsewhere - do it - for your own safety. I am hoping with all my heart that they fix their problems. I was so frightened watching a young girl attempt to clean my deep lacerations when she openly said she had never done it before. I really didn't need to know that; I was already in shock and none of the people who came in were remotely comforting. I'm proud of my inner composure that I made it through this harrowing experience without falling apart emotionally; no thanks at all to anyone there. My wound was contaminated with dirty mud when I came in and all I wanted was someone to take two minutes to spray it off with a disinfectant immediately so I could endure the waiting room without having to imagine a systemic infection that could have been prevented easily. Apparently that is asking too much regardless that it could be life or death. There's more bad news but writing this is depressing since this is a very serious matter. If you are reading this in 2018 or later perhaps they have fixed their system and staff. read more

This emergency room is a fraud. I have been there twice and both times had to beg for care. The doctors Carpenter and Stein don't care about the patients. I am 36 years sober and went in with an infection from my hernia mesh. It was so bad it was causing paralysis in my legs . I asked for pain meds because I hadn't slept from the pain in 4-5 days . They labeled me a junkie. Had me take of my shirt to check my hernia. Didn't make sense until I left. They gave me Narcan instead of pain meds . Then three days later I remembered there was blood in the bathroom in the waiting room. They probably thought it was mine. They were wrong. All these negative posts on yelp are true. These people are incompetent. They should be sued . really really bad . Dr Stein has been refusing people care for years according to the Yelp responses .. Good luck getting pills good luck with your pain .Carpenter told me he wouldn't give me antibiotics because I could sue him for malpractice. Because my urine test didn't come to his liking .The nurses gave me three pills and charged me $1500 for a smart ass disrespectful  doctor who ask me a question and snapped his fingers and said "cmon cmon'. I was sick not stupid. I am from Chicago area, never have I seen a fraud operation like this. Remember they are being investigated for over charging in California. Do your self a favor and avoid the humiliation. They never even offered me ice or water. You have to beg. The nurse scolded me for her mistake. They put the blood pressure collar on and it pumped three sessions  until my arm was purple and said it was my fault for moving . They told me I would get pain killers and I had my friend pick me up at 3am. Per their rules. I needed a ride home . The lying uncaring staff nurse handed me one pill and called security when I complained. Just remember they already had me deemed as a junkie. They kept asking me if I was homeless. I went in complaining of a crippling headache and spinal pain. The PA treated my headache but ignored my chief complaint of spinal pain, telling me it was indigestion and refusing to do anything more. When I protested she told me my problem was that I was too anxious and recommended Yoga and meditation, which is ironic because I practice that already and was acting as calm as I always am. I mentioned my issue to the nurse and she gave me the name of a great acupuncturist that she went to. My girlfriend took me home and within hours was rushed to another local hospital, and turns out I had meningitis so they gave me a lumbar puncture and sent me to another county's ICU unit for 5 days. Funny thing is before calling the ambulance my girlfriend figured out what I had with WebMD, maybe your ER staff should have this resource? read more

She was very nice and followed up with the reason an regular appointment would take more than a month to to be seen. She was able to get the clinic to see me next week. We give the one star because we LOVE doctor Barnes. However, he only came in at the very end of labor to give a c-section, Red headed Heather is great. However, the other birthing nurses were really challenging. Some were cold and one was clearly alcoholic and kept making my wife feel bad for nursing our 3 year old when she was pregnant. That isn't her business. Some of the other nurses made my wife feel like she wasn't trying hard enough to birth naturally. It was bizarre to see the hostility toward her. It turned out our baby's head was too big and turned and she needed a C-section. MY WIFE WAS RIGHT AND THEY WERE WRONG. An emergency nurse came in when I was getting food and my wife tried to tell her something was wrong and she literally ignored her. Wouldn't respond even after my wife said are you hearing me talking to you? I think many are in the wrong profession. The one nurse complaining about nursing started complaining about Dr. Barnes being "sloppy and messy" and told another nurse that there was placenta all over the floor. I went in ER for extreme neck pain. I told them no opiods. They gave me morphine, made me sick as f. Then did a ct scann and said no you are fine. Then the shift changed and the new ER Dr acted like i was just there to get high. Never looked in my ear, or offered any relief, or any possibility of another cause. Probably charged my insurance $10k. I will never go there again deadbud is better. Bedside manner people, they treated me like a doper, I have 2 jobs, and specifically asked not to have any opiods. I have been waiting 2 weeks to get a refill on a prescription that my daughter has taken for years. It's an anti seizure med. I have called the clinic 4 times and they returned my call once asking if that was the prescription I wanted. I told them yes it was. That she takes 2 different Tetrytol tablets. I have gone to the pharmacy 2 different times to pick the meds up. First time not filled. Second time, wrong prescription after I just got done taking to the clinic. I got a small emergency prescription for 7 days but she will finish them off tomorrow. I am waiting for a return call from Administration to see what, if anything, they can do for us to get the prescription filled. In 48 years of purchasing meds for my daughter I have NEVER had a problem. Really unhappy with this. read more

Unless you come by ambulance, you don't get proper care! Healthy over all 60 yr old woman(very active). Arrived at Sutter lakeside in Lakeport about 4:15pm on the date of 1/26/2015. I had had a chiropractic adjustment earlier in the day and felt wonderful! All of a sudden i was in excruciating sharp stabbing/burning with horrible aching pain! Down my left side of my neck, along the ridge of the shoulder migrating down in to my wrist.. I had to wait 2 hours pacing the halls with excruciating pain/crying.. Finally saw Triage.. They panicked and put me on an EKG.. if I was having a heart attack I would have been dead by this time! Another hour goes by (6:45 pm) and "Dr. Isis" gives a shot of 5mg valium.. and 1000mg of Motrin and a small flexerill thrown in.. Really? In the meantime my blood pressure was sky high PAIN IS INCREASING! High number was well over 240!!! Due to the pain level.. next time she came in (approx 7:45pm )she ASKED ME WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PAIN!!!!!!!!?????????? OMG horrible.. I said " I don't know how about morphine"? 2 more hours go by (10:10pm) and I got a 4mg of morphine.. again not enough to do anything, least of all this excruciating pain.. about 10 minutes later she comes in and she is releasing me cause there is nothing they can do for me! My blood pressure is off the charts and I am in horrible pain! And now the hospitals can not give you meds to take home!! THEY SHOULD HAVE KEPT ME! The hospital did NO tests or x-rays or MRI's/Ct Scans, NOTHING!! So I went home in so much pain and was unable to take a pain pill till the next day at 11am when my husband got them at the pharmacy..I could have stroked out during the night! I had no pain meds or blood pressure meds to bring down blood pressure! So on Thursday I notice my left arm isn't working very well and pretty much not at all (paralyzed shoulder to wrist).. well now I am scared to death I am having a stroke on top of whatever else is going on.. I called my daughter and she says: MOM GET TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM NOW! An come to SANTA ROSA, CA at ST. Josephs Memorial..They were waiting for me when I got there... took me in and treated me with respect and I felt like a Queen.. no problem gave me some great pain meds (pain free first time in days) Memorial did an ekg and had me scheduled for MRI.. Disks severely ruptured in my neck were 3&4 and 5&6.squishing the C-5 Root nerve!. no wonder I was in so much pain.. Now diagnosed with C-5Palsy, paralyzed left arm! read more

I was up visiting family in the area and managed to trip and gash open my chin when I tripped over the doorjam holding my dinner plate. Graceful, I know. Once we stopped the bleeding (and it was was gusher!) we could see that I had a deep cut right under my lower lip that gaped open and was almost all the way through to my gums. The plate shards must have sliced me open. A stitch or two was definately needed, so off we went to Lakeside, about a 40 minute drive from my family's place. We arrive at 7:15pm on a Thursday night. We left at 12:30am, without having received treatment. I guess I shouldn't have changed my gruesome bloody shirt before going? A guy who had been punch in the eye came in bleeding and waited about 30 minutes and was treated even though I had been sitting there with a facial laceration oozing blood for 4 hours at that point. The intake person said they only had 1 doctor on duty. We left after having waited over 5 hours, no treatment, no inspections of cut, just the triage questionaire. Total time spent including driving: 6.5 hours We went back home, butterfly bandaged the cut, slept until 6:30am, then drove to Kaiser Santa Rosa. No waiting, seen promptly. The gash was already staying closed due to time and the butterfly bandage, so Kaiser didn't want to reopen it to flush and stitch, which seemed fine to me. They just added a drop of glue and some steri-strips and off I went. Total time spent including driving and treatment: 3.5 hours. Fast forward a week, the cut has healed nicely, the scar shouldn't be too bad. But now I have bits of ceramic plate schrapnel, like sharp grains of sand, working their way into my mouth since the wound wasn't flushed promptly at Lakeside and it was too late to do so the next morning at Kaiser. Moral of the story: if it's bad enough call an ambulance. If it can wait an hour or two then drive to Santa Rosa area hospitals. read more

After suffering for two days with immense pain, I decided I needed to go to the ER. The staff and nurses were kind, compassionate, and genuinely concerned for me. I checked in around 7:00 a.m. I was told the doctor is due to arrive at 8:00 a.m. He did not arrive to help me until 8:45 a.m. I can honestly say that he stayed for perhaps three minutes, he never even came close to me. I was there for a SEVERE BACKACHE, yet he never attempted to view the back area or in any way assess my pain. He walked out without even saying what the next phase would be. Well, that's because there was no next phase as he never returned, nor did any nurses or orderlies. I was forced to get up and go open the door and ask for help. Ten minutes later, I was administered a NORCO 5 pill, which was not explained to me - that's opiod and I should have been told that!!!! I got dressed and waiting for discharge, but nobody came for me. I opened the door again and started to leave, an orderly said I had not been discharged yet. I waiting another twenty minutes. I was still there at 9:30 a.m. The NORCO 5 made me physically ill, so I was back home feeling horrible. The doctor's name is Jared R. Greenholz, and he has to be THE worst doctor I've ever, ever had. Useless diagnosis, made blatant errors on my chart (I'm highly allergic to penicillin, yet he wrote "severity low", he gave me the NORCO 5 on an empty stomach, his diagnosis said, "Acute left-sided low back pain without sciatica," but how can he diagnosis that without even touching or checking in with my Sutter Health records? He said that I had no kidney stone, but I think that I did. Worse of all, his diagnosis was "Acute left-sided low back pain without sciatica." That's it, nothing more. To me, that is not a diagnosis as I still don't know what caused the horrible pain that sent me to the ER to begin with! I believe that Dr. Jared R Greenholz needs to be held accountable for his lack of knowing nothing and for not giving me any care whatsoever. Shame on him. Shame on him. read more

My father has been a frequent patient at Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport CA. I think the care he receives from the nurses is wonderful. I have no problem with the doctors either except that there is NO GASTROENTEROLOGIST on staff at this hospital. If your father is bleeding internally somewhere and they don't fix it the first time drive the extra miles and go somewhere where they have a board certified gastroenterologist. read more

My wife and I have received excellent care at Sutter over the last 13+ years. I returned home yesterday having my knee joint replaced and 4 days of recovery there. It is completely imposable for me to describe the exceptional level of professional and very personal care and concern that I experienced recently. The ladies that attended my post surgery needs was well beyond mere professional standards. The food service on the other hand, suffice it to say that they were very prompt and you wouldn't starve. McDonald's and other restaurants are nearby so bring a friend. read more

This place seems to have not great reviews so I was nervous going but I had a wonderful experience. Went to the ER last week, which long story short, turned into me needing emergency surgery at 1am.. the ER crew (Spring, Kayla, Ruth, etc) were great and the doctor on call (Dr Barnes) was incredible. He and his OR team (Renee, Michelle and the anesthesiologist Dr Johnson- I believe ) were calm and reassuring to me during a very scary experience. They answered all my questions and took very good care of me. Dr Barnes and the team saved my life and I am forever grateful for them and this hospital. read more

Omg went to emergency ...my aunt is 94 ..we were there for 7 hours. When we left I had to ask for a wheel chair for my aunt lol I don't know maybe with all the time we wasted we could of drove to Santa Rosa read more

My husband and I arrived via ambulance following a very bad accident. Everyone was quick, kind and competent. I was admitted for a few days and the nurses and staff at med/surg couldn't have been better. The kindness and concern for my comfort helped enormously as we were far from home. read more

have this hospital a second chance and this time I waited 5 hours in pain with the exscuse from the registers nurse telling me we only have one dr. you have to be patient. at that point I got up had them take the i.v. out and went to saint Helena hospital in clearlake where there fast and efficient don't waste your time with this facility. read more
